Methotrexate for RA - Side Effects?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi,

I have been on Mtx and Hydroxc since April of this year. Initally as dose built up I was pretty ok with it. I'm now on the 20mg weekly dose, bar nausea has been ok. However my menstrual cycle seems to be crazy, in the last few months my cycle is going 6-7 weeks..I have always been regularish - give or take a few days, but nothing like this.

Wondering if this could be down to the medication, has anyone else expereinced this?

I have also been told my iron levels are low, so maybe thats causing the issue...just interested to see if anyone else taking Mtx has had a similar experience,

Thanks

I have gone to Chinese medicine and the reason people are against this is often because of the side effects you are listing! The mix is obviously doing something to your body and upsetting the menstrual cycle. This is quite a shift in the body and you need to speak with your doctor and not let them just pass it off as a mild side effect.

I have been on to the hopsital today, nurse said she will speak to the Dr's about it and get back to me.

I did a quick search online an I definitely don't seem to be the only one and interrestingly most people said the Dr's were fairly dismissive and were saying there was no link - can't be right if people taking the same drug are having similar issues.

Doctors can be dismissive when they don't know the answer.

If the nurse doesn't get back to you, don't let it drop, chase them up!
