methotrexate side affects

I have only just discovered your post.  I have been on MTX for around 6 months and I have had enough of it.  It doesn't appear to have made any difference to my condition and it has horrible side effects.

I haven't had chills but pain?  I have had so much pain in my joints.  I am finding it difficult to move around.  I can't take any pain killers because whatever I take just overloads my liver and the enzymes go up.  I have developed a weeping eye, which I have discovered is another side effect.  All I can do, is dab my eye with a tissue, otherwise it will become very sore.

I am seeing my prescriber tomorrow, and am going to tell him that I have had enough of taking MTX.  I have been tapering my Prednisolone but have come to a full stop and can't reduce any more because my condition flares.

My 9 yr old daughter was diagnosed with MCTD almost 3 yrs ago, and despite meds has yet to achieve remission. We commenced methotrexate 2months ago after azathioprine was not helping. The first 4 weeks were mostly up eventful, but the last 4 have been hideous.

she wakes roughly 5 hrs later with all over 10/10 body pain that no amount of analgesia works. 3x now she has suffered from chills, can't warm up, has the major shivers yet her skin is very hot to touch. The chills usually last hours, but the pain last 2 days, with the first being totally uncontrolled. The next day (day 3 ) sees her so exhausted she usually sleeps all day.

The doc now want to admit her and give her IV ketamine

I just seen your posted. My advise to inform your specialist doctor ongoing about this and it could be the side effects as I had few chills then it stopped, too many vomitting and bad nauseas most times with tablets then the team changed it to MEX injection which made a difference to me but I had other side effects. so you need to work out what you are prepare to do. Sound like you are only taking methorexate and no other medications?

 

I have only been on MTX for a month. Had to half my dose as it made me physically sick. I have had flu like symptoms sine I started them and an awful cough, Xrays are fine. Feel as if I have a really bad bout of hayfever. Just living with it now. If it does get worse will see what other options are available. Best to ya!
