Methotrexate side effects - blisters- how long?

Posted , 4 users are following.

a few days after starting MTX i developed severe blisters on my lower lip and  nightly peeling and bleeding.  its been a week since my last dose but no subsiding in the blisters.  After 3 weeks of MTX my doc has switched me to mycophenolate.  How common is this blistering side effect and how long before I can expect it to end?

I don't know about your reaction. I have had graver blisters. My doc just changed me from pills to injection of methotrexate I am still having tired and intestinal issues after taking injection! I'm going to give it 3 months. July is still no improvement in RA and side effects I'm done !!!

I hope the new meds work for you !!!

You might do a little looking into side effects of low folic acid and B12 especially with canker sores. MTX prevents folic acid production and sometimes you have to up your folic acid to prevent some side effects. I called my doc and they upped me from 1 mg to 4 mg a day. All docs have their own way to do it but you should ask your docs opinion on upping folic acid for you. Good luck to you! Hope you find relief.
