Metrogel or clindamyacin creme??

A week ago today, I thought I had a yeast infection. Treated with monistat 1. NEVER use monistat 1. The itching and burning increased x100. I have been miserable. I have been urinating in a sitz bath to ease the discomfort. I am very red and inflamed. The dr said this is a common reaction to the one time monistat dose. He took a swab and it came back positive for BV. Third time in the past year. He said this is why these symptoms aren’t going away. I am still convinced it’s he monistat, but I’m willing to try anything to get some relief. Oral flaggyl and I do not mix. I was having diarrhea numerous times a day to the point where my bottom was bleeding. So my next options are metrogel or clindamycin creme? I’m worried with metrogel, I will have the same side effects. I am also worried about becoming further irritated down there. If anyone has taken either and can share their experiences; I appreciate it!

I hate to say this but the antibiotics you get from the doctors do not cure BV. They only help for about a week. I've had BV for almost 6 months and I havent cured it I've been to the doctors 3 times and nothing has worked

Hi Amanda, from my experience the metrogel was really expensive and did not work! I have also read post from others and it hasn't worked for a good number of them either. I haven't had any experience with the clindamycin. After being on antibiotics myself and it coming back I like to try natural remedies. Flaggyl made me feel horrible as well. I think antibiotics aren't worth it if it comes back after anyway. My body healed by doing things naturally. I tried to make my body less acidic by drinking alkaline water and drinking warm lemon water first thing every morning. I also used vh essentials, took vitamins and probiotics. Everytime I got sweaty I would change my cotton panties and I use an olive oil soap. I also tried 1/2 cup baking soda bath with a few drops of tea tree oil. I shower to get clean but just used the bath for bv treatment. Now when I want to unwind I just take a warm bath without soap and it hasn't came back in almost a year. Just to be clear I shower every day but sometimes take a bath as well at night with just water to relax. I know how hard it is to deal with bv as a women and feel deeply for all of you!! I believe you will get rid of this and hope that what worked for me can work for you as well!

Hi Liz, when I had bv we were not sexually active for about a month. When I didnt have symptoms we became intimate again. I bought a natural lube from amazon. Aloe Cadabra. He uses protection when not pulling out because I don't want my ph thrown off balance. I was originally scared to try any lube out of fear of bv returning but after months of using it no bv! During my period I also use unscented tampons. When it becomes lighter I use a smaller size. I hope this helps!

I’m in the clindamyacin this week and on my third day. It’s helped so far with the itching and discharge. I know for a fact though that this BV will come back in like two weeks because it always does after antibiotics. I haven’t used metrogel so idk what the difference is. Im sorry girl I know how you’re feeling and what you’re going through. It’s the worst 😢

Hi Amanda, sorry you are going through this! Your situation seems pretty similar to mine - I was mildly battling BV for a few months (thinking it was just a terrible yeast infection... oh boy did I know what was coming...) before I finally went to my local drugstore and got Monistat. This made the infection I was already struggling with a million times worse. So please all you people with BV out there please NEVER use monistat. Anyway I went to my doctor and got prescribed oral flagyl after being diagnosed with BV but I never took it because I'm very sensitive to side effects and haven't heard the greatest of things about it. So a month after that of taking probiotics and still no change I finally went to my gyno. First got prescribed metrogel 7 day. Peed out big white chunks similar to discharge but was told that meant the medicine was working if this was happening. While it did relieve my symptoms a bit, BV was definitely still there. A week after I got put on clindamycin 5 day suppository. No white chunks while pee but still did have discharge it did help my symptoms and I was BV free it felt like for one day before everything came back. So for the past 9 months I've only had relief for one day. So long story short, they did not work for me. Now I'm focusing on building good bacteria up instead of killing bacteria in general. But who knows everyone is different. Best wishes to you on this heck of a journey and I hope you can find something to help you!
