Micropigmentation of lip gone horribly wrong (vitiligo? hypipigmentation)
Posted , 4 users are following.
Hello.
I recently attempted to cover white patches on the lips (vitiligo) with tattoing (micropigmentation) however it went horribly wrong with infection and as a result the tiny white patches tripled in size covering more than half of lower lip. there was also no colour retention from the procedure except for a black dot that looks horrible.. this has ruined my life and i am desperate for some advice.

One is the person who did the tatto insured?
Two, can you go to your doctor to get refered to a skin specialist?
If the answer is yes to question one? They will have to pay your medical expenses.
Court first as to me, they should never have been tattooing over a skin condition in the first place.
Try a good concealer if possible until you get the hell you need.

I am seeing a dermatologist soon.
The concealer doesn't cover any longer and I am stuck indoor. I am male so I can't wear lipstick. I have really hit rock bottom now.
God who did I agree to get this done. Pain is to much

I am eagerly counting down to the dermatology appointment in 3 weeks. , I hope and pray that there is something they can do. Steroid creams or protopic or something.

Jarry,
Try to be positive? I know people who have survived the most horrific burns and they still manage to get out. The fresh air will help too. I wouldn't worry so much about the cosmetics of it but the fact you may well have an infection? Three weeks is too long to wait.
If you could afford the tattooist I'm guessing you are not broke?
Go see a doctor as soon as possible regardless of anything else as the last thing you need is this getting worse.
As for the tattoo 'artist'? I wouldn't go anywhere near them without seeing your doctor first.
Even then only contact them via a lawyer.
They should never of touched you with this condition.
That said maybe you begged them to? I really don't know but it wasn't a wise move on your part to have it touched.
As for the depression? That's a different subject and would need addressed professionally also.
Here we can only be symathetic which is really of no help to you whatsoever.
So please seek medical advice today.
Do not wait.
Make sure you have photos of yourself before the tattoo and as you are now for any future legal action.
Get outside and some air, sitting in all day will only make both symptoms worse.
Even a burns mesh type bandage will help it heal and cover it up also.
As we all have to work regardless.
Remember that there's always someone way worse off than any of us.
Because of my own ill health?
My late mother used to ask me why I thought I was so important that people would bother to stare at me?
That put things in a whole new perspective.
So get yourself out!!
People are too busy to even glance your way.
Trust me, they have seen much, much worse.

Thank you for your words..
I have now seen a doctor and been prescribed creams. Doctor wasn't very hopeful of improvements though.
I went for a consultation and trusted her when she said she would be able to cover it. Now I am left in this black hole and things don't seem to improve.
I am seeking help with the depression. I am still not able to leave my house unless I really have to and even then I suffer anxiety ayyacksfrom all the looks and stares I get.
This is the mother of all screw ups I fear

Take a deep breath and relax man.
This is not the end of the world or your life.
While these things don't happen for any particular reason, you can take advantage of even the worst of situations, and turn it in your favor. Now is the best time to do that!
I used to love winter and I totally hated summer. Why? Because where I live, when it's summer you need to have the minimum amount of clothes on, which means most of my skin is exposed along with my vitilligo patches. However, I came to realize that I didn't really hate summertime. I hated myself and how my body looked. But hate and self-pity didn't help me and it sure won't help you.
I got over my vitilligo anxiety on summertime and it was the only time I could possibly get over it.
So, get up, and get out! Accept what you have right now and work with it.
Stop caring about what others might think when you're outdoors.
Don't focus on the people surrounding you. Nice people don't judge and nice people are the only people you need to worry about, so stop worrying.
I'll agree with the others that it's IMPERATIVE to go see a doctor ASAP.
Stop taking your looks so seriously. You'll get over it eventually so save a tear or two.

I heat what you are saying. It's just that because it's on the lips and so exposed I am having hard to me accept.
Everyone is self conscious, especially around women.. I didn't really have a big problem before bit I now do.
This has not only scared me physically but aso mentally.
