might have osteomyelitis again

Hi i am 19 years old and have been having problems with my leg the last 2 days. In 2003 when i was 14/15 i was diagnosed with Acute Chronic Ostemyelitis in my Asis/Hip region. I feel that your daughter is an amazing little girl and you should be proud, as it is a horrendus painful illness, and i would not wish it on the worst of my enemies. Anyways i think i might have it again, as i just came back from my G.P and now have to go see a consultant to have it checked out on thursday. Just wondering, has anyone else had repeat problems with osteomyelitis? im not looking forward to going through the whole experience again, but hey life goes on anyways smile

I battled against it for 3yrs and after each operation they said we think we have it all out this time. But suprise it never went and i dont think it ever would have that is why i made the decision to have a blk amputation. that was at the end of febuary you may think that it was a bit harsh but since then i have learned to swim i do athletics and cycle 15 miles a day. So life does go on i know all cases are different and we cant all make the decision i made but i feel 100% better mentaly and physicaly.

Hi Kieran, sorry to hear that you are going through this awful condition again.

How did you get on with the consultant.... any news??

Jade is much better now and hopefully won't get it again but who knows.... didn't expect her to get it last time, nobody knows what's around the corner!

Please keep us updated with your situation.

I originally had osteomyelitis when I was about 8 in my left hip and right ankle. I can remember spending a lot of time in hospital but cannot really remember anything much other than having to have a live blood transfusion from my uncle. For some time now I have been having pain in my left hip which I thought might be that I needed a hip replacement however having just for some reason decided to look up ostemyelitis am now very worried that it has come back thank you for your input I will certainly be making an appointment with my doctor and hope I get the correct tests done. Thank you
