Migraine 24/7

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hello all, I know people have migraines on occasion, but I seriously feel like I have it nonstop every day for years. Nothing that I try has worked or made them less strong.. Has anyone experienced this and what was your solutions? Also, there is absolutely no doubt that there is pain, but is it somehow possible that I have convinced myself that I have headaches and that is what is causing them (a friend suggested this, kinda makes sense). I hate living like this. sad

    Bob-

Please don't blame yourself for your headaches! Living through the nightmare of migraines is tough enough, without blaming yourself also! I had a few years of living hell with migraines....pretty much migraine free now. what I did- cut out as much stress as possible. Stopped eating wheat and dairy. ( Now eat some dairy once in a while....) Took supplements. Ate tons of veggies, fruit, organic meat once in a while. Take low dose asprin, get regular neck massages, lots of detox stuff using teas, lemon and magnesium. It required a lot of research and experimentation! Wishing you  healing and no more migraines!.

I totally sympathize with you. I too get daily headaches, I dont think yours are caused by you thinking about them and then getting them. One acquaintance of mine suggested "I dont think positive enough" and thats why I got them. No not at all.  I can only control mine thru Imitrex (not sure what they call it in the UK) I have tried Botox, preventitives, beta blockers you name it.  I know I take way too much Imitrx but I have to have a life.  I did hear that acupunture can help so I am going to give that a try.  Perhaps you need to see a neurologist?  What didnt work for me may work for you.  You should keep trying different approaches.  Headaches are just awful I know.  Let us know any update.  Good luck and God bless

    Hi Bob,

Pain is pain it's real to you and your suffering with it.Im asking the most obvious if not silly questions first forgive me if these seem patronising but there important.Have you seen a neurologist? Not just a GP.If not request a consultation , search the web.Look at Migraine Trust and Migraine action.

There are several types of headaches some can last for a very long time.

What meds have you tried and for how long? Over medicating yourself on certain pain killers can actually produce more headaches ..all neurologists tell the patients that so make a diary a monthly calendar chart.Note the pain score at its worst from 1-10.10 being unbearable unable to move do anything say anything eat or drink anything totally disabling .Watch your meds, first check with a neurologist what to take , all meds have side effects. If your taking meds more than ten times in a month without them being prescribed you can be making your problem worse.

Obvious triggers foods like chocolate, spicy ,rich, caffeine ,alcohol, dehydration is a major factor , if your not drinking enough water it can cause headaches. How long does the high pain last? Chart it.Have you heard of cluster headaches?

Any other effects on your arms or legs face , smell, sight or hearing write it down.A pattern should emerge over a couple of months but you need to see

someone who knows what headaches are about. The UCL nEurology and Neurosurgery Headache clinic next to Great Ormond St Hospital in Queens square London do take referrals from your GP.To your research on the web

find out whose who in headache specialisms. Be proactive yourself Gos bless them have only certain limited knowledge and the good ones always

refer you on to someone who does.A good GP is someone special because they will take on board what you say and what specialists recommend.

Its up to you.By the way what's your friend like when they themselves are ill? You need rainy day friends not just those are there when the sun is shining .Keep posting .Everyone on this site is fighting their own corner but you are not alone neither are all these here.Good luck .Yvonne

Like most people that suffer migraine could say been there worn the t-shirt. I take a beta blocker, that helps reduce the severity of the attacks, have not had as bad a one as you seem to be having. Has your GP tried differnt treatments, as not all treatments work with everyone.

Hey there, I have a friend who has the same kind of thing- one constant migraine 24/7. She had a brain scan to make sure nothing's wrong and now takes medicine every day to keep the pain away. If she doesn't, it comes right back and won't stop until the next dose. You're not alone in this! Definitely see a neurologist if you haven't. Keep pressing to get info or treatments, you should be allowed to live life pain free.
