Hello all migraine sufferers
I ve had migraine for approx 25 years hormonal linked I was informed. However I am now 58 and post menopause and still getting them.
Always used triptans currently taking almogran, never been referred to a specialist.
iHowever I have recently been diagnosed with dystonia, dystonic tremor with myoclonus so seeing Cons Neurologist who spec in movement disorders but also fortunately migraine.
I have been started on clonazepam and she also wants to add propanolol
she said that would also help with migraine.
she asked how many days of ' headaches ' I get per month (counting all headaches as migraine) well in August I had 12 days, usually taking approx 3-6 triptans a month. She said that's far too many most people don't even get headaches ! And she doesn't like patient taking triptans
so anyone have experience of taking drugs to prevent migraine and what if any are effective ?
i will be grateful for any help, they are the blight of my life

I've now been on propranolol for about 3 months. I have put on a few pounds which I don't seem to be able to get rid of. I have low BP normally but it hasn't bothered me. I take 80mg slow release in the mornings. My migraines have reduced to one a month and headaches are managed easier with 4head and simple painkillers, now they don't always turn into full blown migraine so some success I feel.
What have you found helpful to prevent your now ?
All the Best Theresa
