Migraine for 20 days straight

Hello. I have had migraines for about 10 years now. Usually they come on 2-4 times a week. I had my gallbladder out 6 weeks ago and have been really sick, nauseous and not able to eat, lost 10 pounds. It’s been horrid. I started having daily migraines about 20 days ago. I’ve been taking zomig for it ea

I take zomig each day for it and I feel it’s making me sicker. I’ve seen my neurologist and I am taking vitamin b2 400 mg for prevention, they are also trying to get Botox approved. So I am working on a preventative but I need something else to take for the daily migraines. I’m not supposed to take the zomig as much as I have. Does anyone have anything they take or do that gets rid of the their migraine? I need another option other than the zomig or medicine with triptans.

It hounds like you need a cycle breaker.  My neurologist usually prescribes a course of steroids to try to break the continuous migraine.  Has your doctor suggested or have you tried it?  We’ve sometimes had to go through theee or four different ones to get it to break.  If that fails then we will do an occipital nerve block.  I am doing Botox now plus nortriptyline as a preventative.

      Hi Heather,

Thank you for your response. I feel the gallbladder surgery set the daily migraines off because I’ve been so sick. Have you tried the steroids and did they help you? How is Botox and nortriptyline working for you?

I have used different steroids in the past.  Prednisone was the first and it did stop the migraines for a bit.  I have chronic migraines so nothing stops them forever but it helped.  There have been other times where that one hasn’t worked but another has.

I’ve had three rounds of Botox and take 10mg of nortriptyline.  I definitely have fewer migraines than I’ve had in the past.  I’ve heard both good and bad from Botox.  I guess like everything, it works for some and not others.

I’ve also been approved but am waiting on the aimovig shot.   If that helps I’m going to eliminate nortriptyline.

Hello, my doctor is going to have me use steroids to hopefully break the migraine cycle I am in. Did you have any side effects when you used them and how long did it take for them to stop the migraines?

    Hi Johnette,

Sorry to hear that, there’s a Facebook closed group - Migraine Cure Global

And a Facebook page that I’ll attach a link to.

There’s so much great information and there’s a huge campaign about to start for research and development with migraines. I am sure you will agree more needs to be done.

I hope this migraine eases ASAP.

Please head over to the closed group  to and introduce yourself, you will get plenty of answers to any questions you have.
