Migraines

Hi Ladies,

Has aanyone experienced migraines during their period with feelings of being off balanced? This month when I got my period it was late and that was usual. I thought I was pregnant. Then, I had pressure in my head the whole time with sensitivity in my teeth and gums. Is this also a peri symptom because it's never happened to me on my period before.

What can I take to help with the dizziness and migraines?

Yes, I've been on the B6 for about a week now. I guess it takes a while to kick in.

I never had migraines until I started going through peri/menopause at 51.  I am sorry you are suffering and can truly feel your pain.  Mine were awful and would  go on for weeks and were debilitating.  I had pressure in my head (only one side) and teeth hurt and other weird symptons. and t he only thing that. Helped me was estrogen to stabilize my fluctuating estrogen levels. That could be a potential issue that your hormones are wildly fluctuating and hopefully getting evaluated by a Dx who know what they are doing could be. Dry helpful.

hi sharcer, yes i too get migraines, head pressure and aching jaw and a feeling of off balance.  I had one last week as my period was late well actually i'd missed one months so this was extra late. I  also get so bloated when i'm due on or late now.  Like jay says normal pain killers dont work you should see your GP to get something pacifically for migraine.  I know what you've been going through, there dibilitating. I get headachs most days were i feel its my sinusis as i get pressure in my nose and temple yet i never suffered from sinus before per. take care x

Yes, that is what I've been experiencing. They probably will want to prescribe some crazy medicine with crazy side effects.

      Hiya Sharcerv,

I used to get really bad heads either approx 4 days or may be the day before my period and this was always my indicator that my period was not far away. I have been having accupuncure since I started with these peri anxieties  and this was another thing we focused on and now do not get any hormones headaches! Only the last 10 days I have been experiencing sensitive teeth and gums and like Jay went to see my dentist and nothing seem to be wrong either, must be to do with our fluctuating hormones. Also feeling really bloated at the moment as I due one and I also suffer with sinus. Hope you soon find some relief to these on goings. It's so good to share our experiences , it's so comforting knowing your not alone.coolMassive hugs to you xxJoy xx

Hi anxious face. That's what I get! Oh my, can't believe I've found someone else who us the same. I have painful jaw, awful headaches, pressured head, off balance, sore temple, side of nose, behind eye, vision affected too. Also stiffness into back of head and neck but mainly left sided. Xx

Yeah, that's where I feel it too, left side. At least I know I'm not alone. So is there anything you do to alleviate it?

Hi, that's what I get too. Neurologist said its migraine and TMJD (jaw joint dysfunction) but I have read that TMJ issues can be caused by fluctuating oestrogen. Seeing a specialist soon so I will ask and let you know what he says. I also have noticed that my teeth are much more sensitive at the moment. Drinking cold stuff is a nightmare. My discomfort and pain is with me all the time but to varying degrees. I was on amitriptyline which helped for a while, and the Dr recently prescribed pregabalin which didn't suit me at all. So, back to square one now and seriously considering taking a small amount of amitriptyline again. Xxxxx

Hot wheat bag helps sometimes and hot bath with lavender and Epsom salts. The amitriptyline helps to a degree but havnt found anything yet that gets rid of it altogether . I find a magnesium supplement helps to relax the muscles a bit, but normal painkillers are not a great help. How about you. Found anything that helps at all?
