I've had pmr for 2 years. My main problem is mild breathlessness ,fatigue and low back pain. Does anyone else have annoying mild breathlessness?

sometimes, yes, but not all the time. that being said, my allergies are off the charts since being on pred--3 years in sept., 5 1/2 mg. the least little activity seems to cause me to be winded. not all the time, just sometimes, like today for instance,

Hi Monique - I have only experienced breathlessness when I over-exert myself. I have had pmr for 4 years. But, symptoms can differ. Good luck as you weather this disease.

    Hi Monique,

Like the others who responded I, too, have become aware of troubling breathlessness on minimum exertion. This seems to have begun about one year ago. I have been on Prednisone for 4 years but the troubling side-effects have only begun in the last year. I do not suffer from allergies or sensitivities to anything in particular. But walking 50 yards is enough to make me aware of my breathing - and there is no longer any pleasure in going out for a walk. I am now tapering from 6 to 5 using an incredibly slow protocol but when I was on higher doses I wasn't really aware of breathing problems. It is terribly hot here in the daytime and will be until October but I notice that it is much easier to breathe while walking at night time when it is cooler - and when I really can't be bothered going out!

I'm in the middle of a relapse, was on 20mg pred down to 10 was having "out of breath" symptoms going up stairs, lightheaded, felt like I ran a 10K cutting the lawn. Normally, I'm in good shape, cyclist, hiker etc. Doc sent me to the ER, labs, Chest x-ray, ekg all normal so he reduced me to 5, then 2.5 and it seems to be calming down. So, pred def causes breathlessness, gonna start light training again and see what happens.
