Hi, I've been diagnosed with slight wear and tear in both knees and both hands and have been doing strengthening exercises for a month now and my right hip is starting with it, I love walking and am scared im not gonna b able to walk far in the future or not at all but my question is if its only mild why does it hurt so much, its the hip more than anything else thats getting me down.

Thanks for your replies. i am at my physio appointment now as im typing this and will mention the hip. I was thinking the same whether the knee could be causing the hip, i can cope with it at the moment but worried about it getting worse as its only mild at mo it still niggles everyday when I walk and as I mentioned earlier

My physio said she thinks its the tendons in my hip so gave me strengthening exercises to do for it and advised ice, I am back there in 4 weeks but so far only painkillers(ibrupofen) seem to help. She said not to lie on it at night not to cross my legs or sit to low down

My physio told me to ice the area but didnt tell me for how long or how many days?

      Hi Sarah

I don't think there us any set rule about it, don't apply it directly onto your skin though. If you type in heat and ice treatment for pain, on this site, it should tell you what you need to know.

      Hi Sarah.

You should ice the area 2-3 times a day in about 20 minutes. The best time to ice is directly after being active:

      -after work

      -after walking

      -after excersises

      Hope you feel better

Thanks Meril, Ive been using a bag of peas wrapped in a tea towel nothing seems to be helping at mo though, suppose I have to give it time.

Yes Sarah, just keep trying until you go back to your physio in 4 weeks. If it doesn't help maybe she can suggest something else. Some people get some relief from it, I apply creams to my shoulder and neck - biofreeze or sometimes deep heat. Best of luck😊

Hi, I take the odd ibuprofen at mo but was thinking if they stopped helping the pain and I have to take stronger ones for eg. co codamol they are addictive arnt they? Hopefully I wont and ibrupofen helps for a while. Its still about the same the pains in my groin area to, the exercises and icing dont seem to be helping as yet. I had to take my dog to be spayed 2 hrs ago and feel very stressed at the mo waiting for her to come home so thats not helping 😟

      Hi Sarah

Yes I believe co-codamol are addictive. The ones you buy otc are not as strong as prescription ones. My mother gets the weaker ones on prescription every month, she's been taking them for years.😏

I hope your physiotherapy works out for you and your ice treatment, nothing happens overnight though unfortunately.

I'm sure your dog will be fine, my cats were after they were spayed.

      Take care😊
