My Vertigo is triggered by stress and anxiety and my doctor prescribed me Valium. I only use it sparingly when I feel an episode coming on or if I know I will have a stressful day. They seem to work, however, I really work hard to manage my stress and anxiety more holistically via meditation, exercise, breathing, and diet. Good luck.

I dont use any pills for anxiety.

I get horrible vertigo. Nausea and vomiting for hours. Just laying curled up in a ball for hours. Even when I would feel a little light headed my aniexty would get really bad. I just started medical marijuana to help deal with the anxiety and nausea. I use a vaporizer with a high CBD strain with a low THC (sativa strain). So far it has worked wonders. My anxiety lowers and the nausea stops too. I still have the vertigo but I am able to deal with it better and continue on with my day.

I just started a few weeks ago. But been very helpful for me in dealing with thw nausea and vomiting. Also a big help with aniexty.

Hi Jeff: Would you please share a little more on the medical marijuana with me. I would much prefer to go that route, then a manufactured drug like valium. How does it work in a vaporizer? What does it mean by a high CBD strain? Can you still operate normally, like work, drive, etc.? Thank you.

      Hello Greg.

I wanted to try medical marijuana for the same reason.

The vaporizer heats the cannabis without burning. This releases the active ingredients into a vapor that is then released into the air in a fine mist created by a vaporizer device. Since combustion does not occur, smoke is not created. I find it much eaiser on the lungs. You can also ingest the drug in a form of edibles or oils. I prefer the vaporizer since the active ingredient get into your system faster. Ingesting takes a few hours to work since your body needs to process the drug through the stomach.

CBD is a chemical compound for in marijuana. CBD is non psychoactive so you don't get the "High". CBD is primary used to treat pain, anxiety and Spasms

Then there is THC. There are 2 major types; Indica strain relaxes your body and had a more physiological effect. It is used to promote sleep and ease pain. Pretty much maked you want to lay on a couch haha.

Sativa is a THC that stimulates the mind to be more creative and focused. Gives you a energetic "buzz". This strian is used to treat migraines, pain, nausea and poor appetite

I use 2 strains. One has a THC of 3.9% and a CBD of 9%. The other strian has. THC of 7% and CBD of 9%. The THC in both are sativa. I use the high strain of THC when the nausea is worse.

I use a strain with higher CBD becuase I wanted something to help calm me down when I feel an attack may be starting. I also wanted some THC to deal with the Nausea and vomiting. I was taking gravol but it would make me so tired and making it hard to go about my day.

Everyone reacts differently to marijuana. I found that taking 2 small draws from my vaporizer gives me the medical ingredients to deal with my symptoms without being impaired. I am a stay at home dad so I am able to still be with my boys instead of laying on a couch throwing up. I would not drive but that's just me. I am 100% sure I would be able to drive perfectly fine if I needed to.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions just ask. I am no expect but I can try to help the best I can. I also wrote this in my mobile phone do ai apologize for grammer and spelling mistakes haha

Thanks, Jeff your insight and experience is very helpful. I live in the US in NC. Our state has been slow in accepting marijuana as a medical drug as well as a recreational drug, however, I am sure it will get there. My ENT is at Duke University so I think I will ask her about this. She was reluctant to prescribe me a betahistine because she thought they were useless since the FDA has not effective. The betahistine has worked for me to an extent. At one point I was having episodes at least 1-2X per week, now about every 6 weeks. I'll discuss with my doc during next visit. Thank you.

    Almero,

My ENT prescribed 2mg Valium if I felt light dizziness plus I have CBD from hemp (no THC) in dropper bottle, 3 to 4 drops under the tongue and things calm down. Good luck!

      Hi,

I am on alzam for anxiety. My question is did your blood get tested for any other problems? What helps quicker when you have a attack. I use Cinnarine daily.

      Thanks dor response

      almero,

Once, while in the emergency room last year, they did an MRI but I don't think they took blood and tested it. I have not had an attack since some of my mastoid bone was removed to make more room for expansion. I take my CBD drops at the first sign of dizziness also.

CBD is a derivative of hemp. Similar to marjiuana but not illegal because it doesn't have THC in it. It calms nerves and has other benefits in lotion form. Check online for information.

Hi Almero. I am on betahistine 24 x 3 per day and have been symptom free since being on this dosage. My first symptom of an imminent attack is distorted hearing and I still occasionally get this if inadvertently eat too much salt usually in a restaurant. Stress will also do it so I try to avoid that and take regular exercise. Meditation doesn’t work for me as my mind is too restless. Reading helps more for me.
