Minimally invasive bunion surgery - Perth

Posted , 3 users are following.

hello, i have just in the early stages of exploring my options to treat a bunion. I am keen to pursue the minimally invasive procedure but the research doesnt seem all that positive. Is there anyone who is able to provide an update regarding long term benefit of this?

And even better is there anyone from Perth Australia who has had the procedure?

Does your bunion hurt and cause mobility issues? if it doesn't don't have it done.

The best research is done by talking to doctors. not Google. the only thing you should use that for is getting cheese scone recipies.

resolutely advising me not to have surgery based on two criteria unknown to you, whilst at the same time instructing me to not consult google. hmm interesting! as you say i will best leave that to the doctors. what i was referring to were the quantitative studies. I was seeking information regarding individuals experience which is what this forum is there for... right?

i had minimally invasive surgery 3 years ago and have more problems now than i ever had before. i regret having it done. the joint is more restricted, arthritis has set in. i am more restricted in footwear than before and the wrong shoes can cause pain in the lower limb, foot and hip. if you have any signs of arthritis or a previous injury (i had a partial dislocation of bones in the foot from an untreated high velocity twisting injury years before and based on what's happened since i believe this and the early signs of arthritis should have been a contraindication.) i had severe swelling which prevented proper mobilization of the joint for weeks after the splint came off - the swelling didnt improve until i saw an osteopath for treatment. i was diligent about my rehab exercises but these made little difference. i expect that i will have problems for years to come that arise because of this surgery and will eventually walk with a severe limp. this surgery has been a disaster for me
