Mirena Coil Removal

Posted , 2 users are following.

I've had the Mirena in for 2 years. I had finally had enough of all the side effects that came with it such as: weight gain, hair loss, ratty-ness, not knowing when I was having a period, (if I would have one at all) pain and bleeding after sex etc, so I got it out last Tuesday. Everything was fine, then on Thursday evening I started bleeding slightly. Then on Friday I was bleeding A LOT. Then on Saturday I was doubled over in pain, vomited because of the cramp pain and felt really, really rotten and MEGA angry (my poor, poor boyfriend..) My problem is that even though I don’t feel different weight wise (Though I've already upped the exercise as I’m determined to shift this wobble) I have ginormous boobs! I have gone from a D to an E in the space of 3 days! They are hot, heavy, sore and I literally hate wearing a bra or putting on a top as they feel so restricted. I feel fat, uncomfortable, unattractive and I’m even sitting here at work with a coat on as I‘m self-conscious. Please can anyone offer any similar experiences or advice as at this rate, I’m going loony.

Thanks so much.

While - obviously - I have no direct knowledge of this I would advise that you should take your temperature and if at all raised see a doctor with all speed.

I would imagine though that any weight issues would take more than a short time to settle so you may be a bit impatient there.

Just to rule out any infection ...

It's funny how people who use the coild either love it or hate it and how complicated is all is these days.  My first beloved used one which was rather like a "7" with little strings. I doubt if it had a name!  It was fitted simply by a GP and was ideal no problems at all. She had to check the strings occasionally was all.

Years and years ago of course

My Sister loves it-I just couldn't hack it. I think it's because the Mirena releases Estrogen which completly plays havoc with my hormones. I'll give my doctors a call when I can-it's so tricky when I work fulltime to get time off work. Gosh, I wish my partner was so clued up about female contraception! Cheers Simon.
