Mirt - Making me so emotional

Hi, I've been taking 15mg mert for a month now, I can't stop crying feeling really depressed, I get so wound up over silly things, I have a brilliant partner and we were so close but since I've been taking these I've been pushing him away I've convinced myself he doesn't love me, when I've calmed down I'm fine but once I've got something in my head I'm like a dog with a bone and just keep pushing. I have hardly any concentration my work is also beginning to suffer. I've suffered from depression for 20years but never been this bad, I've even considered self harming

Hi' I just wanted to offer you so reassurance. I've been on mirtazapine for 15weeks now. I stayed at 30mg for 10 weeks before upping to 45mg. Mirtazapine doesn't work as quickly as other meds. It would be an idea to give it at least 6-8weeks. I was very up and down on 30mg. Its only now on 45mg for 5 weeks that I'm levelling out. I went round I'm circles thinking the pills weren't working but its only now look back that real is I've massively improved. I would stick out out a bit longer gun, unless the side effects are intolerable. Mirtazapine is notorious at making you feel better I'm the first week and then dipping back down....unfortunately its true that it gets worse before better. I'm glad I stuck it put now as I'm starting to get back to me now xxx

Seems to be the same for me but only been on them 2 weeks and half that time coming off venaflaxine. They seem to have some strange side effects but my head is clearer, I am lucky not working at the moment so can try and go with it. Good luck

Oh p.s.....mirt makes you very irritable and moody initially. It does fade and I take evening primrose and b6 vitamin to help with that...it does help. My hubby didn't dare breathe I'm the first month of taking mirtazapine... lol

Morning All, thanks ever so much for your support, I've seen the doctors he's put me back on Citalopram, however still taking 7.5mg of Mirt, feel so much better already feel so much more positive today, had a fab sleep with no weird dreams.  I hear what your saying Rachael I know they take awhile to work etc, but yesterday was the last straw I felt so scared it was the uncontrollable thoughts of self harming and they way I kept picking on my partner is was really effecting us as a couple, I just couldn't see any other way out.

Just been thinking why did they take you off venlafaxine ? I don't know much about mixing drugs that's something I've never tried but reading Saralou post the gp prescribed both ? Wander if that's the way forward for me ?

I went on to venaflaxine because citalapram stopped working for me. Venaflaxine made my blood pressure low so swapped to mirt, they all had an overlap of a week, weening off one on to the other. Can't really say about using both it is early days for me on mirt alone and I am keeping my fingers crossed, running out of drugs to try now. Also sick trying different ones and finding they don't work.

Have a good day all, be kind to youself xx

Hi everybody how you kind today?

i didn't manage to get to my Pdoc and had to take a diazapam could feel my panic coming on. She phones me and said I was doing well gardening, cooking, cleaning and getting bathed even going in the car twice in three mweeks. Things I couldn't do before! I am sticking with the 30ml mirt to see if I level out, it is really hard to go with it when I have so much I want to do. Hope you all have manged to do a bit today and are ok. Take care everybody JudithJudith
