Hi Michelle, It can be a lot of trial and error with an AD, however...If you were on them before and did well...then do it! I only lasted a couple of days on mirtazapine...headaches galore, however, I slept well. Currently on Lexapro, better after I stuck out the side effects. Sleep was not as good on it. Started taking liquid melatonin 2 weeks ago, sleeping better. Don’t suffer, try it, it takes a couple of months to get in your system anyways. As far as side effects, you feel lousy anyways...at least there’s a chance you might feel better. “Might” sounded good enough to me. That’s how I rationalized taking an AD. Good luck! 😀

Thanks for your reply. I was on it for about a year roughly two years ago i was peri then. 10 years in peri now post. Just post mind you. Ive been handling tbe anxiety and tremors but its got real real bad now.
Ive been putting off taking them.
But tbh i tried prozac in the past omg i was suicudal.
Thats why the doctor gave me mirtazapine as its not an SSRI as far as i know.
I came off it because i was getting restless leg at night.
But tbh if it give me just a little bit of calm i would welcome that right now x

Your welcome Michelle! Even if it buys you 1 extra day of relief. I am only 41 in peri. Started last year, and turned my life upside down! Too young for HRT. Besides, heart disease runs in my family (dad died at 42). I had tried natural things, acupuncture, you name it! I was like a corpse laying around, sad, tired but not sleeping, no appetite, awful. I have children,1 with special needs, husband, pets, responsibilities. Anxiety was taking me over and I think led to depression too. I had to do something! Prozac was the first AD I tried a year ago...1 lasted 1 day on it...Horrible GI problems. Just start low and slow. I forget if Mirtazapine comes only in capsule or if you can get tablets and split them. On Lexapro, I went up very slowly...almost 3 months in and I’m finally at my prescribed dose. But, I am a total sissy when it comes to meds.
I still have not so great days, however, I’m able to get up and function instead of dwelling about how I’m going to feel. I had not driven more than 10 min a couple of months ago. I took my son to an appointment in the city yesterday...1 hour. I had some dizzy spells, but got through it. I only hope I can get well enough to get back to work...that’s my goal. Sorry to babble, but, just wanted to show you that there is hope. 😊

I have five grown up children two grandchildren and on on the way.
Should be excited but the anxiety is killing my joy.
I have an inner tremble all day long.
I dont want to go on HRT as you can only be on it for so long plus i dont wanna mess with my hormones they are messed up enough.
Im hoping as this is a natural thing for women to go through that its at its worst being early post meno.
My husband is a pastor and just keeps telling me it will pass.
Oh God i hope so.
Ive been off work during thr summer holidays as i work in a college so term time only.
Ive found being at home for me has made it worse.
Too much time to focus on symptoms.
Praying for better times ahead for you.
I too am not good with meds so i suppose going back on one i already know would help. X

The inner trembling comes and goes with me also. Before it was most of the time, but now its maybe part of the day..
I used to want to be at home but when i am i become down, and when i work its better but being out alot at work also creates the same anxiety.
I worry for my boys, and what the future holds.
I hope your husband is there for you and it sounds like he is.
HRT does make a person weird, but it could also provide relief.
I was hoping it would help me, but the moods never changed, and i dont have sweats to speak of.
You will find much support here, as ive grown fond of the ladies here and i dont even know them.

I was on Mirtazapine 15mg , I tapered off it because I’ll it did was knock me out for 10-12 hours and was like a zombie all day also put on loads of weight as it increases appetite and for me it was all junk food I wanted where normally my diet was pretty healthy.
It may work well for you though.
I’ve since gone onto HRT 7 weeks now and it is starting to help with my anxiety I can see subtle changes in my confidence, can get out of the house now without to much trouble but still a way to go , people say it takes a good 3 months to get anxiety under control.
I’m post menopause and it’s been hell !
