Mirtazapine - Did you gain weight or not?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi guys, I'm just starting 15mg of Mirtazapine and I hear a lot about weight gain but as far as I can see the weight increase is only a result of feeding the increased appetite. The drug doesn't appear to have any physiological effects which cause weight gain that I've read of.

What I want to know from users of Mirtazapine is did they experience a change in weight when using and did this coincide with a change in eating habit?

    In short, yes!!

it takes a lot of willpower to stop the urge to eat!! ( i initially struggled to walk past the fridge without getting something out) but if you have the willpower you should be OK

Hi linda, if you need to take higher dose in order to control your anxiety,i think this medication is not suitable ,it shouldn't work this way. There are many types of medication that help to heal anxiety and depression.I took mirtazapine for 3 weeks from 15 mg up to 45mg .And it never help at all.Now i took 5mg vortioxetine

for 1 week ,my symptom is gone. This is just my advice .

It seems fairly consistent that appetite is increased but you'll only gain weight if you eat in reaction to said appetite. I guess I'm safe if I can sustain the will power!

    Thanks for replies so far
