Can someone who runs the nice Facebook mirt group please let me know what it is called. I used to be a member 2 years ago but left Facebook. I wanted to try and taper off mirr again after an unsuccessful try 2 years ago that triggered anxiety that Ive just come through but i want off this drug as its been almost 7 years i have taken it and its caused my health to deteriorate badly and my mental state. I know people may say but look how bad your anxiety went when you slowly tappered and yea that is true it got worse but i think that was purely withdrawal and that it was my underlying anxiety state coming through again because honestly my anxiety was never as bad as it has been these 2 years after i tried to withdraw and now i have depression too so i want off as it isn't helping wither condition.

I was on 15mg. i got down to 11.5 when the anixety hit hard with severe panic attacks that led to 12 months of horrendous anxiety and panic. That was all of 2018. I am now in a bit of a better place hut my anxiety has never gone down to where it was prior to withdrawal. but i no longer have 12 hour panic attacks, every single day like i had in 2018. Now it is more like general anxiety every day. Anyway, I want to try again even slower. I was withdrawing by 0.5mg every 2-3 weeks so i plan to go slower. I went back up to 13.7 by mid 2018 to see if it helped from the 11.5 I got down to, doing 0.25mg increases that year and i have stayed on that dose since.

I would love to join that group again if anyone can point me in their direction please.

Thank you

Julie

From the many, many books i have read, a 50% reduction is too much, too fast.

Most experts say to TAPER 10% each month.. if not you will have REBOUND

    anxiety and rebound depression.

Too bad these drugs cause weight gain. Men and women.. Men prefer women

with great figures. Narrow at the waist. Noticeable up top. Curvy, yet slender.

Taper very slowly.. even 5% each month to make sure there is no rebound.

    Best to you. Bless.

Dear TORIA and others. A fter 2 nights with 2 hours sleep and 1 night with no sleep, yesterday I had a day of excruciating anxiety., Last night I resorted to taking 1 mg of a benzodyzapine and I did get several hours of broken sleep.

Since I quit the Mirt, I can only get 2 hours of sleep, sometimes naturally, when I am exhausted. Phenergen worked sometimes but no more. I was prescribed clonazapine and xanax by different psychiatrists for the anxiety. You know how addictive they are. I desperately try not to take them and have usually not taken more than .5mg a day. I know SKIATRYL says they ruined him. I feel Mirtazipine has ruined me.

I have zopiclone but can only use it occasionally and it doesnt always work

If it takes months to get natural sleep back after MIRT how will I survive. The choice seems to be - never sleep or take some awful addictive drug.

How did you and others survive.

hey, bless you 😦 try if you can to stick to the zopiclone rather than the benzos, i know how hard insomnia is! have you tried the epsom salts? x

      Dear llorc.

Do not fear. You will be okay. You will be fine.I want to

tell you, a neurologist prescribed me Klonopin (Clonazapam),

      and I took it every night for 25 years.Yes, 25 years.It was

usually helpful for sleep. It is a Benzodiazepine. They do give

it to Epileptics. It calms the electricity in the brain. I did okay,

on that drug. I was able to work and have a satisfying career.

Before the use of Klonopin, I took several medicines for sleep.

Also, i went 20 nights with zero sleep, and i survived. No one

dies from insomnia, so be courageous and know you will get

better through time. Work with your doctors.Stay active.

I did many things to help insomnia. Exercise, hot bath 2 hours

before bed. De-caf coffee. Not much alcohol.A cool sleeping

environment. Too hot of a room, or bed makes it more difficult

to sleep. Read everything you can about making everything

better for sleep. Working and being occupied really helped me

also. Being around fun people helped me too. Remember,

everyone is different. Some people need 11 hours of sleep, and

some only 3 hours. We all are different. The former president

Bill Clinton only slept about 4 hours a night. The idea is to

assure you, that you will be fine in the long run. Work with your

doctors. Be confident. You will conquer over time. Stay active.

Bless you. .. keep people informed. You will overcome !

      love

i think its the lesser of 2 evils and if it helps you get a few hours so be it, its not forever! some nights i would have zero sleep, some night 1 or 2 hours, and then it slowly slowly improved x

I trusted my neurologist. He was super intelligent. Very caring. He knew

exactly the right medicine to be on. I studied and studied all side effects, etc.

I had no choice but to take the medicine and trust him.He did add Mirtazapine

to Klonopin for sleep. I did help. He told me never to take more than

15 mg. 15 mg or less helps sleep. More than that per night, he said would

make the insomnia worse.. I never took more than 15 mg.. and did better on 7.5

per night. I took it for two years, then ween down and off because of sexual

side effects. I felt good sex was far more important than an extra hour or two

      of sleep.

      Joan.

Everyone is different... Xanax was Horrendous for me.That drug was bad. It

has a very, very short life. For some people it works okay.. It is VERY physically

addicting.. Changing brain chemistry... But i have talked with people that it helps..

I do not know anything about Celexa. Is it an anti - depressant ? ?

Remeron helps me sleep a little better.. maybe 20 % better..

Insomnia is not fun... I have learned to live with it, and do many chores around

the house if i wake up early.. which is about 4 am... I get about 5 hours of broken

sleep.. Maybe i will get better through time.. Doctors have said it is LONG process..

      Think long term..

Great... this happened to me with several doctors.. they do not know how

to taper off many psyche drugs... NO IDEA... Few do though.. I do know, that

a slow, slow taper is the most sure way for most everyone... but we all are different..

The general rule is 10% per month. i am currently going slower then that..

have been tapering for one year,, and maybe one year to go... .. have to go day to

day... month to month.. .. reading Heather Ashton is extremely helpful... VERY !
