Can someone who runs the nice Facebook mirt group please let me know what it is called. I used to be a member 2 years ago but left Facebook. I wanted to try and taper off mirr again after an unsuccessful try 2 years ago that triggered anxiety that Ive just come through but i want off this drug as its been almost 7 years i have taken it and its caused my health to deteriorate badly and my mental state. I know people may say but look how bad your anxiety went when you slowly tappered and yea that is true it got worse but i think that was purely withdrawal and that it was my underlying anxiety state coming through again because honestly my anxiety was never as bad as it has been these 2 years after i tried to withdraw and now i have depression too so i want off as it isn't helping wither condition.

I was on 15mg. i got down to 11.5 when the anixety hit hard with severe panic attacks that led to 12 months of horrendous anxiety and panic. That was all of 2018. I am now in a bit of a better place hut my anxiety has never gone down to where it was prior to withdrawal. but i no longer have 12 hour panic attacks, every single day like i had in 2018. Now it is more like general anxiety every day. Anyway, I want to try again even slower. I was withdrawing by 0.5mg every 2-3 weeks so i plan to go slower. I went back up to 13.7 by mid 2018 to see if it helped from the 11.5 I got down to, doing 0.25mg increases that year and i have stayed on that dose since.

I would love to join that group again if anyone can point me in their direction please.

Thank you

Julie

    llorc.

I had panic and anxiety. Could not sleep. In the beginning, first 4-5 nights,

it helped with sleep. After 10-12 consecutive days i was sleepless.. my

brain had become dependent.. then after 3 months on Xanax i was a mess.

Then a very, ,very very, very bad doctor did not ween me off,, he abruptly

stopped Xanax, and i had horrendous, frightening seizures... He should have

slowly weened me... a real disaster.

What a horrible doctor to not tell you to tapee off zanax slowly. It has become difficult to trust doctors these days. They are in such a hurry to get to the next patient and rush us through our visits.

      joan.

it was beyond hell.. almost died. xanax is very addictive physically...for years I have had horrendous insomnia..I survived, but it was extremely difficult to work. Doctors insisted I needed something to sleep, and said to take Clonazapam... a drug they give to epileptics. I think it calms the electric signals in the brain...even with that drug I would get a false sleep of about 3-4 hours only..many nights , less...I took Klonopin for over 25 years ! ...survived and able to work somehow

      good luck...go slow..easy does it.

What a terrible thing to have to go through from this drug. Its a shame we depend on our doctor to help us and we pay the price from their incompatance.I am happy you were able to overcome all of what you went through.Since I have just been on Mirt for a month I think I will shave off the 10% today.I dont know if I could tolerate what you went through.Thank you you for your info.Take care.

      HI TORIA

Please direct me to the site. You have given me encouragement but I'm beginning to think that, maybe, because of my age I am not going to get over this. My insomnia started when I was on 30mg of Mirt. Thats when I decided to taper. Things got worse as I was tapering . Then when I was on 7.5 doc said get off the Mirt. Now after r more than 7 weeks off MIRT I am so sleep deprived and frightened. Please tell me how often you use zopiclone . My doc says I should use it as little as possible. How did you or anyone else stay awake so many nights.. I havnt got the courage,

Hi rmthere IIORC,I am so sorry you went through some bad issues with this Mirt.I am at a loss on what I am going to take for my angziety since I really dont want to take this drug anymore. My dictor has had me on Abilify no luck.Doxapinn couldnt breathe and the Immipramine isnt good for the heart.I read I shouldnt be taking this since I had a TIA..."Stroke" some years back.I dont want my health ruined from this.I see my doctor on Tuesday and see what he can try next. What a fear I have now to try another drug.He also gave me Trazadone and I was nauseated.Thank you.Take care of yourself.
