Hey... ive been put on 90mg of mitrazapine a day from my docor as well as 8mg of suboxone as i am an ex heroin addict ... but the mirtazipine was given to me by the doc for my insomnia and depression following my giving up of heroin oxy codone ect but reading these accounts of such bad withdrawal symptoms why would i keep taking it? I feel a lot happier and im sleeping extremely well i have vivid dreams every night and im happy its also helped me to be focused given i have adhd and they thought a high dose of mertazipine would be better than giving me ritalin with the suboxone im just worried now im going to have another drug i become addicted to following the gps advice? ...

Im on 90mg mirt per day 8mg suboxone... any thoughts are appreciated thanks

Hi, I don't think you get addicted to mirtrazapine it's not A class drug. If it's doing everything right for you take it. It helps your brain chemistry get back to some sort of normality. I had breakdown due to bereavement. I could not eat or sleep. It has worked wonders for me. I'm back to the person I used to be. Sure I have good and bad days, who doesn't?? There are a lit of negative reviews about this tablet and withdrawl. I'm tapering down slowly now from this med and have had very little withdrawal. After each drop in dose I get a little nauseous but that's as bad as its been. I think a lot of folk on here take mitrazapine for anxiety and depression and all the withdrawal symtons people get could be their original symtoms returning and not just the medication. If you feel well on it, why wound you want to stop it??. It's early days for you on this medication, give it a go. Anything must be better than heroin. Take care.

90mg? I thought the max dose in most cases was 45mg?

90mg sounds like a hell of a lot. But follow your doctors orders.

If it's helping you - take it.

I've been on it and having trouble quitting but it really helped me when I needed it and  I don't regret taking it.

I Anthony - my eyes nearly fell out of my head when I read  you are on 90mgs. I'm on 45mgs and have been for about 5 years. I try to avoid reading the negative's about mirtazipine, some have had terrible stories of withdrawal. Like you I think it's better the devil you know and so i will continue taking mirt because it has helped. Good luck to you and congratulations on kicking the heroin.

If you ever need to get out of it, its likely gna be hell taking 90mg. I would only stay on 90 if you are plannig it for life. I was never given the gift of a warning, thats what im giving you. Your doctor is misinformed, and the withdrawels are terrible it take years to taper out from 30 mg... with lots of sideeffects like insomnia and in some cases severe tinnitus a years after you stop minimum, im in some facebook Mirtazapin wd groups where the truth is told. Sorry to ruin your day, but maybe im saving you.
