Mirtazapine , suddenly feel worse this week - Headache...

Posted , 1 user is following.

Hello

I have been on Mirtazapine for 7 weeks now at a dose of 30mg.

I guess they have helped in that I am going out and TRYING to lead a normal life again.

The only problem is that I have been waking up the past week with headaches, have this heavy headed feeling and so lightheaded / dizzy. Where they were helping me sleep they are not really helping. I feel anxious as well because my head feels so weird. I have decided to go back to work as well. sad

Anyone else suffer from this?

Thanks

    S13 Hi,

I was on 30mg for about three months. I was waking quite often with a heavy headache but it then lessened as the morning went on. I also had some degree of anxiety and some strange sleep disturbances, especially between sleep and fully waking.I have had my doseage upped to 45mg which has helped most of theses symptoms. It seems that the higher the dose the less the symptoms.

I have felt tired this last week whilst I have been off work but usually I cope quite well with the work situation. I hope your sympyoms ease and that you manage to cope at work.

    Rayne.

Thanks Rayne, I was wondering what the difference would be if they upped the dose or lowered it. Off to the Doctors so will see what they say.

S13, let us know how you get on at the docs. What I found frustrating with my consultant that he did not recognise any of the side effects except the weight gain yet these pages are full of experiences about common side effects. Do you think they listens? Anyway hope yours does. Let us know how things go at work.. Rayne 8)

    Hi Rayne

Went to the Doctors who didn't seem surprised by the side effects. He said that mirtazapine can make your anxiety worse in some cases as well as other side effects.

He has put me on Citalopram and said that they won't make me heavy headed and drowsy and are good for treating anxiety with depression.

After speaking to two friend they have both been on them and found them great.

I now have to take half a tablet for 5 days, 3 days nothing then start the new tablets.

On day 2 so will let you know how things go!

Hope you are dping okay, Take Care smile

Hi S13, how's it going with the Citalopram? Not a med I have been on but I hope it is working for you.

I cant believe my consultant does not recognise many of the side effects of Mirt documented in these pages. Strange really as they are obviously very common, and are certainly very real. I am continuing with them at present as the positives still outweigh the negatives.

Good luck in your bid to feel well. Will be interested to find out how you are going on. Rayne.

Well , what an awful reaction I had to the citalopram !! Head rushing, panic, palpatations, upset stomach, pins & needles - I had to phone NHS Direct I was that bad!

I saw the Doctor who said that they obvousily didn't agree. I am currently on nothing as I said to the Doctor that I actually felt okay when I wasn't taking anything (before I took the citalopram).

After 3 nights of no sleep, and the anxiety returning after the citalopram I think that perhaps the side effects of the mirtazapine are not that bad! The Doctor said that because I was feeling better the side effects probably bothered me more.

Well, I am going to start back on the mirtazapine - perhaps the Doctor knows best after all !

I have just started back at work and can't afford any more time off!

I have been on Mitrpazine for 3 months , the first month 15mg and the last 2 months 30mg. Just recently I have notice my headache getting worse ( like a heavy head is the best I can explain) and my anxiety is somewhat raised. I fighting my way thru it at work and I have notice my anxiety seems to be raised when I have to have meetings.

I have already had 1 month off work in a new job, and a phased return of a few days a week. In January this will mean I am back on a 5 Day week, Something I am not really looking forward too.

I am loathed to try anythings else because whilst i don't like how I feel I don't want to feel any worse by changing tablets.
