Mirtazipine for Anxiety

Posted , 5 users are following.

HI All,

i have been on Mirtazipine for around about 2 weeks now (30mg daily) alongside taking Lyrica (100mg twice daily) although my anxiety/panic attacks are fewer than before, i still wake up with this anxiety and it brings me down for the rest of the day, i am constantly checking my chest to make sure im breathing ok. my chest always feels tight and i panic about that, i then try to get a full breathe and when i cant i panic that im dying. i basically have this feeling that i am going to die all day long and with the tightness in the chest and chest ache that doesnt help. the only time i seem to get relief is when i sleep.

my question is. has anyone got any advise are these the right types of medication? do i need to be on the both? will i ever get relief from these feelings or do i just need to accept i will feel like this for the rest of my life.

Hi i have dame as you panic attacks and very bad anxiety especally in the mornings. My head is always negative but anxiety is very high soon as i open my eyes. I cant sleep i only have about 3hours each night and still have to work. Im on valdoxan. Clonazepam and mirtazapine. Now i been on mirt twice in five years and found it didnt help but only helped me put on so much weight. Its one of those pills that makes u eat loads and throw on stones. Also if you read reviews its one hell of a pill to withdraw from. So for the last 4weeks i packed in mirt. But please read reviews if you want to stay on it. I dont recondment it but if it works for you then give it a go

if you research the side affects of the mirtazapine you will find that they match your symptoms pretty well including the weight gain. i would call my doctor and see if he can do anything to either adjust the dosage or put you on something else without those side affects. its making your anxiety worse, not better.

      Hi Stephen,

thanks very much for the reply. much appreciated. since taking Mirtazipine i feel a little better like the panic attacks are not as bad. however, the anxiety and chest discomfort is still there. i have an appointment with my doctor today so im hoping something will come from that.

check your medication side affects. its worth the time it takes to research it. i just checked Christopher's medication against the side effects listed for his medications and nailed it, and the side affects of his meds match his symptoms to the letter. so if you have not researched the side affects of the meds you are on, i would do it soon. or list the meds here and i will research them for you. once you know the cause if your symptoms it will help to curb your anxiety and you will feel better. anyway, i hope you feel better and you are not alone.

      HI David,

thanks very much. so would you say that i need to come off the tablets that i am on? and potentially try another? i have a call with the doctor today, so will discuss the matter.

      thank you 😃

have you seen the side affects of the Mirtazapine you are on? your symptoms make a lot of sense if you realize the side affects of that medication, these are the side affects that i am listing for you; anxiety, agitation, shaking, tingling or electric shock sensations, sweating, nausea, vomiting and strange dreams. the lyrica also has severe side affects that include; confusion, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, blurred vision, tremors (shaking), weight gain, constipation, headaches, abnormal thinking, speech disturbance, and others which would take too long to list. my bet is one or both of these drugs is making your anxiety worse, not better. and i would call my doctor ASAP and tell him/her about these side affects you are experiencing. i am on anti anxiety medication also and i do not have these symptoms with my medication (lexepro, latuda, and xanex). so i would make a call to the doctor so some adjustments can be made.

Didn't your doctor warn you it can take up to 6 weeks to get fully into your system, and until then you can even feel worse?

its either one or both of the two medications he is on. regardless of how long he has been on the medications, you can not ignore the fact that his symptoms match the side affects listed for both medications. you use common sense first, rule out the obvious, and whatever is left is anxiety. in his case the side affects of the medication is the cause of the anxiety.
