Misdiagnosed with a Yeast Infection? Could this be Herpes?t

For 2 months now I've had vaginal redness and irritation. I've gone to different gyno's twice within these 2 months and both have tested me, the results always coming back as a yeast infection. Ive tried canesten cream and took a single dose of fluconazole. There wasn't much of an improvement. This time around, after explaining everything to the new gyno, she examined me, took a swab and believed it was getting better. She perscribed me canesten hc cream and 3 boxes of fluconazole. When I apply the cream, I always have a check for improvement and some times it looks back to normal then suddenly within the space of a couple of hours, the redness will be back. What could this be? Is the cream irritating my skin? Or does my vag look normal and Im just paranoid?

no sores or bumps so doesnt point to herpes to me. is there pain and itching or abnormal discharge or is it just the redness you are worried about? perhaps the constant touching and checking is causing the redness. if there is itching and abnormal discharge then it may not be a yeast infection although if tests are positive for yeast infections i dont see why it would be anything else, perhaps just a persistent yeast infection. doesnt point to herpes to me with no sores on the vagina. looks slightly red yes but not massively.

perhaps stop using the cream as it may be irritating ur vagina and instead just take the fluconazole. i mostly want to know if ur discharge is abnormal, what is it like regarding smell, colour and consistency (also be mindful of where u are in ur cycle)

There's no pain, I had a tiny bit if itching at the start. It was also sensitive when wiping when I went to the toilet. In terms of discharge, there was none and I was very dry. But since taking fluc & using cream, my discharge is clear and stretching as it normally is when I finish my period. There's no smell and the consistency isnt heavy.

The only reason I worry it could be something like herpes is because of how it was 2 months ago. I'll leave a pic below! These were red patches, painless and flat. They never blistered or wept any fluid.

so itching is gone, discharge normal and red patches gone. no pain. i think you are fine continue taking fluconazole. those patches look more like irritated skin or perhaps dry skin from thrush. how long did they take to heal/ go away? plus say that was your 'first outbreak' it would be over by now and you would be back to normal if that makes sense unless you had a second outbreak but you would have those patches or something similar again. if ur discharge is normal and no itching (r there any ofher symptoms other than redness?) than i really wouldnt worry looks like everything is resolving is dischsrge is notmal again

especislly if tests came back as thrush i think continue taking medication try not to let anxiety overhwlem you, stop the poking an touching and stretching and try to resume with normal life. everything looks notmal to me slight redness but could just be effects from whole ordeal. usuallt with herpes it is PAINFUL, that is the most common symptom and you would know if u had it. also would experienve flu like symptoms (throat, aches, temperature etc)

They went away when I took fluc and got my period. And redness is the only thing Im experiencing. I took my last fluc capsule yesterday and today is my last day on canesten hc.

Yes, I agree. Even my gyno said everything seems normal despite the redness. Also, the redness comes and goes, e.g when i wake up in the morning the redness will have gone and then after a day of moving around and poking at, it comes back. I think I am letting anxiety get the better of me.

On a side note, I did experience brief muscle pain; my whole back and legs, a dull headache & a very slight cough. This was about 2 weeks ago, and I sure to monitor my vag and I didnt have any bumps, sores, herpes signs, etc. But I later found out my boyfriend had been exposed to COVID19 and I had been with him for the whole weekend. My symptoms resolved within the week and I stayed in for 2 weeks. But like I said, Ive only had vaginal redness. And like you said, a herpes outbreak wouldnt last for 2 months, with no pain / sores.

i believe u are fine just let redness calm down by not poking around etc its a good sign itching and discharge is gone as that means fluc worked and it is thrush

no worries i hope redness goes soon try not to stress and just live your life. if symptoms reappear revisit your doctor but i dont see anything worrying!
