      Hi thanks for your reply.

I had a blood test on the 12th feb which detected GF from the past however i have never had this before so the doctor thinks if they had done a test sooner judging from my symptoms it would of probably shown active GF  im really scared as my sore throat just wont go it seems to of got worse over 3 months along with my ear and neck

    Hi Poppy,

I had what the doctor called a reactive gland on one side of my neck during the virus, which was one particular lymph node that was raised and sore all the time. It did go away with time though, this could be lymph nodes but of course always wise to get checked out with your doctor.

Really hoping things pick up soon, remember these symptoms can be very normal for mono and the first three months are the worst - don't panic if full recovery doesn't come right away, because it will come and the intensity lessens as the months go by. Recovery can be very zig-zag like three steps forward and two back at times.

Hang in there Poppy, thinking of both you and Maisie and remember you WILL make a full recovery! I truly believe that having been through the same symptoms and fears and worries for a long time myself many years ago and seen the light at the end of tunnel and life again after mono (which there most definitely is, even though it may not feel that way now).

    Hiya Poppy,

I’m 15 and have had GF for three weeks now. I had a really bad ear also on my right side. It hurt awfully and gave me a massive headache. I couldn’t bend down or sleep a certain way. The best thing to is to take pain killers or medicine if your throats swollen. And eventually mine went today actually because I managed to pop my ear. However now it keeps popping.

My jaw was killing as well and I think this is due to your ear and the tiredness. Just take painkillers

Hope you are feeling a bit better Jess, remember just take it easy too still because this virus has a nasty way of trying to persist, you are young though and hoping that means it is not going to cause you any more bother. Hang in there and remember just to rest and don't overdo things the next few weeks.

Hi jess thank you for your reply i have an app at ENT this week so hoping to get somewhere even if they tell me its related to GF and nothing more serious i will feel a little less anxious ... sounds like your having a tough time yourself 🙁 i know its hard to believe but Stick in there you shouldnt feel any wirse than you already do now so take that as a reassurance everyday will only get better the body aches and weakness were terrible i think im passed this stage now and just cant shake the sore ear, jaw, neck, throat and swollen glands but we need to keep a positive mind to help ourselves get through this ..its so easy to scared and depressed and go in to a downwards spiral hope you have a speedy recovery as you are just a young girl 😉

Hi Poppy, we all here have the same symptoms. Please, let us know what your ENT says maybe it will help us too. Can I ask you if your ear hurts or mostly feels full, clogged? mine hurts some days but mostly I feel fullness. And it's only the right side for me.

Good luck with your ENT appointment Poppy, really hoping it goes well and you get someone who is compassionate and understanding and helpful. I do believe that you will get there and make a full recovery, for you and Christine and everyone on the site, thanks to Jesus.

    Hi Poppy,

I have had this for 4 months now. Some days my neck glands are very sore, my ears are plugged/under pressure. You will recover. Try to rest and cut back on work . This has been the most frustrating for me, as I start to feel better and get back on schedule- I then wake up with a sore throat and no energy. Hang in there and allow yourself to heal.
