missed two periods, nurse toldme to drink coffee?!?!

Hi,

?I am 29 and have been having periods for 15+ years. However, it is 9 weeks since my last period. I usually go about 5 weeks between periods but I am now at 9 weeks.

?I went to the practice nurse and she just told me to drink coffee as this will help to bring it on, and if I haven't had a period by October then to come back as they wouldn't bother to investigate before then. Is this right??

?has anyone else had anything similar? My exercise and weight patterns have not changed, if anything i could benefit from doing more exercise and losing weight!  I wouldn't say that work has been any more stressfull than usual, but I have recently been diagnosed with underactive thyroid and commenced on levothyroxine.

?thanks for any advice

Thats weird. I started drinking decaf coffee and tea 2 months ago and my period is two weeks late up to now! Never been late before. Maybe that explains it.

I have never heard of drinking coffee to get your period to start, but I have heard that vitamin C can help kickstart things. You could try it since it's healthier smile Is there any chance you may be pregant? If so then it's weird that she didn't test you...Just my thoughts

nope, definetly not pregnant!! I should have mentioned it in the original post! I could only manage a 1/3 of a cup of coffee, really can't stand the stuff! maybe I will buy some vitamin C tablets, unless it should be freshly sourced, in that case i'll buy some oranges!

Over the years I had skipped periods, and usually because I was under some upsetting times, cried a lot, or money woes. Just an idea, for you. Stress, being anxious is in my nature so this is how my body reacted to it. Might not be your problem.

I am currently 3 months with no period around 11 weeks.

I have been to the doctors who did not tell me to drink coffee but did give me a blood test for thyroid and pregnancy and another for other hormones which all came back clear.

They have not out be back on the pill to see if that will kick start it again

    Fingers crossed
