Mitrazipine horrible side effects?

Posted , 8 users are following.

Been on Mitrazipine for only three weeks and have startd to wean off of it due to horrible side effects. These include:

Night sweats

severe hip pain

tiredness

not sleeping properly

being constantly hungry!

Very tired/groggy for the first few hours of being awake

I work in health care and have a lot of responsibility so turning up to work feeling groggy wasn't very safe. I'm going to wean off of this drug gradually, has anyone weaned themselves off this drug? And if you have how have you found the side effects after not taking the drug? Do the side effects continue?

Any experience would be helpful, this drug is affecting me more than any other has in the past and my GP wasn't able to tell me much about the side effects during withdrawl as he said its different for everyone... to be honest I don't think he knew the answer. Haven't been able to catch the pharmacist at work to ask her yet so was wandring if anyone had had good or bad experiences with a slow wean off of the drug?

What dose were you started on and are you still on same dose?I've been on 15mg now for almost a year. I started 15mg last Feb and my GP upped my dose to 30mg around March/April. I craved chocolate, and have gained 20lbs in a year! I did notice that after being on 30mg for a few months I was waking up in a complete fog and knew the true meaning of "bone tired"! Tired all the way through. Anyway, my GP put me back down to 15mg and I've done okay.My psychologist explained to me that while mirt has a sedating effect in the 7mg - 15mg dose, as you increase the dose it starts to have the opposite effect. So, many people who are taking the 30+mg dose at night are really not getting into the deep sleep mode we all need to recharge, there they are waking up with crazy fatigue.

I've been looking into weaning off this too and there are many people with severe with-drawl (even doing it slow) My GP had tried to switch me from Mirt to Wellbutrin last summer. Not the GP or the pharmacy informed me of horrible (possible) withdraw symptoms!!! It was awful!! I cried for 2 days straight and could not sleep. I thought it was the Wellbutrin but the more I read, the more I am convinced it was Mirtazapine withdraw. Even people who have been on it for as little as 3 weeks have experienced withdraw.

For me it was cold turkey (but I was not educated in the possible withdraw) I'd say slow and long must be somewhat better and have heard of people using a liquid form. Not sure if it's available in liquid in the US and Canada. Hope this helps!Good luck!

    Hi Sally,

Sorry to hear that you are reacting so bad to the medecine. If it troubles you this much, I would go back to your GP and ask for an alternative.

My G.P. Said that going up to thirty MG and being on a combo of RemButrin That I may not sleep good enough if I go up to high. Its a weird drug like that. I read somewhere that it does not allow you to hit your REM. but I doubt that cuz im sleeping very well on 30 mg. But then again. I cant sleep in past 11. without waking up every 30 minutes. And the Dreams are Insane. I utilize Cannabis with it. And I think it helps me with some of the side effects Go down to 15 MG again Maz222 If you feel it really is the remeron that is doing it. And it may fix it. But u have to give it more than a week to know how its going to feel. Im not dr. but give it a shot and I would be interested in how ur feeling. I am noticeing a HUGE speed Effect with the Combo. The minute I take my Bupripioin, or Wellbutrin, i start feeling a Hgh coming on. I am going to back off the wellbutrin myself. probably back to 200 MG SR a day. and probably will back the Remeron up down to your 22.5 MG or 15 MG myself. What are those undesiered effects you are getting Maz?

Hey! I was on Mirtazapine a couple of years back and stopped taking them after a while but couldn't remember why.... recently been put back on them (15mg) and now I know why I stopped... same as you, after a few weeks I can't handle the pain in my hips, lower legs (feels like I need to move constantly as the pressure is unbearable) very tired all the time and as you said especially after waking up, it's almost as if i'm stoned.... my dreams are pleasant but very vivid.... will continue to take my medicine in the hope these effects subside, will stop if this pain keeps making for an uncomfortable night (although the dreams are great), let me know how it goes for you

Yes I feel that way too. Im reading up on how this works. I seem to Poop out around 4 30 right about now, and loose my energy. but then I take a pain medication, that has hydrochloride as a component of delivering the drug. And I notice when I take my evening dose, which is higher than my morning does. Its followed by a increase in the Wellbutrin SR. Sustained Released. or Slow released. XL are more immediate release of the bupropion. and also why people have problems with the generic version, is the delivery method, with the hydrochloride.
