Mobility problems

i am finding moving around so much harder than I would have thought with this torn archilles and its really got me down this evening. So i can't weight bear on left, and its probably true I am a bit clumsy anyway, but everything I try is causing problems. I crawl and a pain shot through my knee, try to hop and topple with pain in good leg etc etc. Everytime i move i either almost fall, hit something, get a new pain et etc. I am bruised and sore everywhere. To be honest I am starting to lose my confidence with moving and going out. Scared to desth i'll fall and break something.

Is it jus me?

I agree with you because I ruptured my achillies on way to local shop 2 minutes from home and on my own , so although I haven't been out on my own since I know time will come eventually but I'm scared stiff about it,

When I first ruptured my achillies mobility was a huge problem because of back problems and I too was sore and bruised everywhere, now I'm on feet a bit more (when back problems allow) it is frustrating because I'm so slow and knock things with crutches etc and worry when people are behind me as they're impatient and now I'm in my trainers im scared to death I'll rupture achillies again but every day is a new day and step closer to the long tunnel with light flickering at end of it

no you are not alone darling,I'm a bit further along than you but have experienced exactly the same, I fell over the bathroom step 3 times and really hurt myself on the floor, I also had to crawl around and pull myself up from the floor,it will only get better, rest as much as you can, do your physio religiously, and slowly build up your strength, if you feel that you can't go out- don't. Be kind and listen to you body.

Thank you both so much. Obviously its not good you struggling too but it makes me know it isn't just me. Some friends are coming over on Friday to take me out. I had decided to cancel but going to go. They will just have to push me and i'm sure we shall laugh.

Such a horrible injury to have.

I'm sure you will have a laugh when being pushed , we do my husband and daughter always say they're going to let me go when we're   down slopes etc ,

      Enjoy your night out

My son used to wheel me around on the quay where we live and do wheelies around the bollards, he caused quite a stir and it did make people laugh including me, I also went out with some friends had a few too many kept my feet fixed in one spot and danced all night , with a sofa to collapse on when I'd had enough, Brilliant!!

I know I'm the person who usually looks after evryone else, but in the blink of an eye our lives have temporarily changed, I still have quite a lot of weakness in my foot, side tendons and front flexion, something to work towards, and keep giving myself little targets, this forum really helps.

Agree - it does help a lot! Braved a trip to the local play centre so son coukd get out - try to fill his weekends as usually we go out a lot in car. A friend took me with her son. It was pretty chaos. Raining a lot and even though only an inch lip into the place we couldn't get wheelchair up and got stuck with people staring. I finally had to walk with crutches. Everyday I end up partially weight-bearing at some pont. I can only pray all will be ok at first 3 week check up. How are you all?

Well done for getting out, I have bought some new trainers but have not qiute got used to them yet, my foot is used to very loose boots, I thought they might help me walk better, although I have been without the crutch for a good bit of the time and feel more confident. I meant to say I also bought a mini cycle at the beginning and still use it everday £15.00 in Argos, great for exercise that isn't weight- bearing
