Mono and auto immune disease?

Hey guys.

I contracted mono when my baby was a week old. About 6weeks later I developed symptom after symptom, non stop feeling like crap ever since. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about but specifically chronic fatigue, constant swollen glands, sore throat, chest pain, gastritis, IBS, tingling in arms and legs, feeling weak, out of breath, eyes irritated etc etc

Anyway almost 12months later my doctor now believes I'm showing signs of several different auto immune disorders. Is it possible for mono to cause all of this? And does anyone know how to flush this virus out of my body? I'm currently trying acupuncture as well as an elimination diet while I wait to see several different specialists but I swear I am soo sick of being sick! I want my life back. I'm willing to try anything to get better

Thank you x

Sorry I didn't mean to cause tension with my question.

Just to clarify I wasn't asking does mono cause auto immune diseases or trigger them.

I was only asking for reassurance that some of the symptoms of auto immune diseases may be similar to mono symptoms and from the replies I got on my other thread it seems that mono can mess with our bodies in so many ways that many of the symptoms can be scary like the strange whoosing in the ear that I experienced back in February, the weakness in arms, body aches, tingling, fatigue etc

I though I was over the virus like 8 months ago but I only joined this site the other day and it looks like it can hang around for much longer.

Many of my problems have resolved over the past two months so I'm hoping that's a good sign that I'm finally getting over this virus but of course I'll follow doctors orders and continue with what he recommends.

Weakness in arms or tingling are neurological symptoms. See specialist.

The only common things between mono and autoimmune diseases are Fatigue and low grade fever.

Extremities don't get swollen with mono. Generalized puffiness is also absent. You don't get butterfly rash with mono... your body won't attack its kidneys with mono. Etc etc.

      Good luck. Wish you health.

I think the weakness in arms and tingling is common after reading through other people's symptoms. I havnt had any rashes or swelling and kidneys are normal. I had an ultra sound on almost every organ. And most are normal except for slight fat around liver (common with mono).

I have two more tests coming up and waiting to see a rheumatologist too for back pain so hopefully it won't take long and I'll know soon enough!
