Mono relapse after 5 years?

Greetings all,
It's been awhile. I was diagnosed with mono back in the winter of 2017. 2018 was the worst year of my LIFE! A seemingly endless nightmare of feeling like crap day after day, afraid I would never feel well again. But I did! (Have hope everyone!)
I was slowly able to get back to normal and even begin a new job later in the fall of 2018. I was back to my normal self and able to do all of the things I wanted and hike for miles without a care in the world. I have never forgotten about this forum and how much it helped me through that trial. I'm glad to see that it is still here as reassurance to those who are going through this nightmare that very few understand.
Out of the blue this past week I went to the ER for heart racing/palpitations/shortness of breath and swollen lymph nodes in my armpit. Everything checked out fine for heart and lungs. Followed up at the clinic and got a complete blood panel/screening and all that checked out fine. Tested negative for COVID, flu and mono (although I initially tested negative for mono 5 years ago too). CBC normal. Liver, kidneys normal. Everything normal. Symptoms continued to worsen into flu-like misery but got better. This past week has been the very familiar up/down cycle of feeling slightly better one day, increasing my activities and then crashing hard the next day, stuck in my bed.
Followed up again at the clinic yesterday with the same result of "it must be something viral."
So here I lie, overcome by that awful familiar weakness and all of the other bizarre sensations that are so difficult to describe. Headache. No appetite. Aches and pains. Crippling anxiety. I was hoping not to relapse like this ever, but I guess it will always be a possibility. Has anybody else relapsed after so long? Did your symptoms last as long as the first time?
