More antibiotics!

After being on months and months of antibiotocs which didnt help, my doctor has prescribed another 6 months worth!

If it didnt do anything the first time how will it help now. She has never heard of HS and says its just a staph infection. I have to put Bactroban in my nose as well as my husband and kids as they might be carriers, so she says. Needless to say I havent filled the script.

It is so frustrating not having any doctors around to help at all!

I have been trying Turmeric capsules, but so far nothing at all. If anything its the worst its ever been. I have 3 which have now joined to form a humungous one.

Where are you all based? And how did you find a doctor that actually knew what HS was??

Thanks

You need to have your doctor refer you to a dermatologist who will definitely know of HS & you will get your diagnosis then. Good luck

I agree, insist that your doctor gives you a referral to a dermotologist. Mind you, they probably won't be able to help much except to suggest high dose, long term antibiotics :xThe whole medical profession is a loss as to how to treat this disease. Until there is some serious research into it, I don't see much hope. Take some literature into your GP when you go - we have to educate them!

    take care

    Thanks for the replies.

Its quite scary that my normal doctor has never even heard of HS.

I am in hospital at the moment after having a HUGE one drained today. I have never been in so much pain.

One good thing is that the doctor looked at it and said, do you know you have HS? I nearly kissed him I was so happy! Finally a doc who has a clue.

Even if he cant help, he at least understands what it is and didnt look at me like I was a freak

Delighted you have at least got past the first hurdle - ie diagnosis.

I can empathise completely with your sense of relief that a professional has at last given you the medical title for this devistating condition.

No doubt you have learnt quite a lot from the experiences on this site & now realise there are so many other people in a similiar situation to yourself - a certain relief in itself !

Best wishes for your hospital stay
