More knowledge about hysterectomy

Hello everybody,

My doc suggested me to do hysterectomy to treat my heavy period. She will remove my uterus, cevix and two tubes.

I am so scared honestly. I don’t know if I will have more problem after years. And how about recovery?

I am now 43 old.

 Thank you!

Honestly- this is probably THE easiest surgery I’ve had. I had two C-Sections, a breast reduction, arm  and Lasik. The hardest part is reminding yourself you’re recovering and not to over do it. I had a full, laparoscopic robotic 4 weeks ago. You got this!

      Hi Squabee,

Thank you so much for your message. It makes me feel a little bit confident about this op if it is the easiest one.

      Bless!

    Hi Lin,

I had a full hysterectomy in November last year. I had a huge fibroid (4.5kg) which caused very heavy periods, lots of pain and to be honest, I had no quality of life. I got to the stage where I felt like I couldn't carry on any longer, I really was in a very bad place.

Anyway, I had mine end of Nov, I was 50 at the time and very overweight. I was dreading the recovery period as I had done lots of reading up on it. I kept reading lots of negative things and was certain I was going to be one of those bad experience cases.

I can honestly say, the day after my op, I actually felt amazing, and as time passed I felt even better. I felt so good I did over do things and when I had my stitches out, the day after the wound burst open. I had to have regular dressing changes etc until I was healed. It did set me back quite some time and was off work 5 months, but that was mainly because of the type of work I do.

I have not had any problems at all since apart from the odd hot flush but I am taking natural medications for the effects of the menopause, I did try the HRT patches but I seem to be allergic to them.

My main advice is, listen to your body, try not to over do things and have plenty of rest as well as make sure you move around as that will help prevent blood clots act.

Hope my comment has put your mind at ease a little, I am sure you will feel so much better post op.

    Good luck

      Hi Dear Jacqueline,

Thank you so much for your words! I was so scared about those negative side effects, but you right, listen to your body, I have been like this for almost four years, I can’t do it anymore. I will do the op and accept the the side effects. I will have plenty of rest hopefully.

I am so glad for you that you feel better snd better, life can be back to normal. You must be very happy!

      Blessings!

I had a abdominal full hysterectomy in March of this year, was out from work 6weeks. Have been back and forth to the drs. Every single bone and piece of my body aches ALL  DAY, my fluches are horrible at night time. Yes menopause can come right after, it did here and it’s horrible. But remember we are all different. I was taking pills but didn’t help. I’m going in for a pallet next week see how that goes. Has anyone tried the pallet before??

Yes, I had a full hysterectomy and I need hormones. I started taking pills but didn’t help. I feel horrible all day long. Dr said pallets are the fastest way to get hormones. I hope this works.
