Sorry you felt a bit uncomfortable with having female nurses to help you deal with your situation, I have family who are nurses and I'm sure they don't take any notice of gender, I do understand where your coming from though and if it was my private parts I would prefer my own sex as well

This is a fair point Donald,

After I was hospitalised a male came to give me a bed pan and I was in shock and in pain but I was not happy having a man. They dont always ask if this is ok. If it is not ok, we have the right to say so. I am sorry you had this experience. Hospital is bad enough without feeling uncomfortable about toileting.

I use to be a nurse It really is not a big deal to us whether your Male or female as long as the nurse who looks after u was respectful and listen to your needs. I'm sorry you were uncomfortable . but unfortunately not many men want to do nursing nor do educators specifically promote nursing to men. Nursing is not an easy job and you can be treated really badly . Recently I had Gyne surgery and I was relieved I had no Male nurses I wouldn't have coped. So I understand both sides. How people see nursing needs to change if you want to attract more men (society shift) because it is so undervalued and often the people doing it,that's why I left it.
