Morning anxiety

Hi all. On 75mgs of sertaline and I have real bad morning anxiety. Been on 50mg since June last year and recently went to 75. I can't blame the 75 for morning anxiety as it's always been there.
Wanted to know how you cope with this?
Thanks

Hi Jay, so sorry to hear you're suffering with this. I too have really severe morning anxiety, its been going on for years, and I know firsthand how tough it is.
I wake up feeling physically sick with anxiety, often needing to vomit and just generally a nervous wreck.
I wish I had a good solution for you, but all I can suggest are the things I do. Unfortunately they don't really stop this feeling quickly, but I am usually OK and more able to cope later in the day, so hope this helps:
1, dealing with the nausea - I cant do anything until this stops, its utterly debilitating! So to calm the sicky feelings I have cup of tea or camomile tea when I get up. (Sometimes have to choke it down though) Between sips I practise deep breathing and just generally try to relax (easier said than done I know!)
2, night before - if I know I have a thing the next day that will cause me worse anxiety I try to prep as much as possible the night before. This means doing things to make my morning easier like picking tomorrows clothes, prepping breakfast/lunch etc. Anything you need ready for the morning.
3, lists - I make soooo many lists lol i have a notepad by my bed to jot down any thoughts i have in the evening. Things like stuff i need to do, thoughts i need to let out of my head, stuff to remember, etc. I find it helps me not to feel like I've forgotten everything in the morning and be less anxious when i get up.
4, distraction - i get so focused on the morning anxiety that it ruins the whole day, so try a bit of good old fashioned distraction. Read a book, watch something (preferably light/funny not depressing) or put the radio on.
I hope this helps xxx

Hi Sarah ty so much for your reply and glad I'm not alone. Like you I drink camomile tea (with honey) as it tastes vile without. I also do deep breathing and try distract myself.
I managed to drive to the bank and then to the dentis so I do make myself do things.
I don't know if this anxiety is hanging abut more as I increased my sertaline almost a week ago. Hoping I don't have to go through those side effects again. 😑
What dose are you on and how are you coping?
Lots of love

I take 50mg daily, recently upped from 25 because that just wasn't doing anything at all. I had bad side effects for about 2weeks after increasing the dose, but it did level out (phew!)
Glad to hear youre managing to get out of the house and do things though, that's a good sign even if it takes courage to do it
I had a phase of never leaving the house, and it really just made things worse so I have to sort of force myself to go into the world now and then lol but doing much better now (been on 50 dose for about 3 months now)
Im also interviewing for new jobs which i couldnt even of imagined doing a few months ago so there is a light at the end of the tunnel heh

I struggle the same. Seems to trigger as soon as I register the start of. new day.
I am relatively new this and found so far is to try to get as busy as possible straight away. If I try to chat with my partner I get irrationally irritable so I gave up a morning coffee and go straight to the shower and move from there. It's hard sometimes it lifts and sometimes it stays with me through the day even when busy.
Sorry no inspirational advice. Just sharing the pain /love :-/
