Morning anxiety

Does anyone have any advice for morning anxiety?  I’ve been waking up with severe anxiety each morning and it takes me half the day to kick it then it leaves me feeling drained!

Yes robin. It’s terrible. Morning anxiety sucks. I use to wait it out so I could take my meds at night since my s dirty is bad at night to. But my doctor said by then my adrenal is too far gone ans the medicine wouldn’t work. He was right . So now I wake up with bad anxiety and wait an hour or 2 and take my Xanax. It’s so hard I know. Your not the only one.

I have lexapro that I take at night and Ativan to take as needed.  My doctor recommended taking the Ativan at night so I could sleep.  Sometimes I take it when I wake up in the middle of the night.  Maybe I will try waiting until I wake up!  It makes me anxious to take the Ativan...so it’s easier for me to take it when I’m groggy.  But I will try it if you think it works!

I know it’s hard but don’t be anxious to take it. That’s what the medicine is for! You’ll see. You’ll regret you didn’t take it sooner. And I’m surprised you taken tour anti depressant at night. I Use to also. But now i do morning. Been thinking about switching to night again.

I often have this, I’m finding that beta blockers are helping with the physical side effects of it and trying some meditation apps, have a look for Glenn Harold on the App Store, he’s great!

Maybe developing a morning routine that helps you calm your mind could be helpful? Meditation, yoga, listening to music, some you time or whatever helps you. So you learn with time how to relax better & faster by sort of re-conditioning your brain & influencing the way you feel in a more positive direction - being aware what is going on & learning how to influence your anxiety so it gets better. Awareness is a great tool but it needs some practise..find things that help you calm down & start your day with a different mindset over time - you know best what helps you with regards to your anxiety. Don't rely too much on medication, I assume they can only do so much anyway. Things like anxiety are also heavily influenced by how we are dealing with them after all. Hope things will be getting better. wink
