Morning Anxiety

Does anyone wake up in the early morning with anxiety and try to go back to sleep but keep getting random thoughts pop into your head? It can be someone you haven’t seen in years or just about anything.  They are not disturbing thoughts just random.  Would like to know if anyone can relate!  Thanks so much!

I haven't had this exactly, but when my anxiety used to be bad I would wake up early in the AM and feel panicky for no reason and then I'd be unable to fall back asleep. That was the worst -_-

Omg! That’s me for many months bit my condition has been better ever since my dr changed my meds.

Before that , I used to wake up like 5:30 or 6:30 am without been able to go back to sleep . Then my anxiety symptoms would pop out , like heart racing and so on. This had been going on for like 4-5 months until recently it got better . I tried to go out for a jog so that it calms me down and ease my intrusive thoughts .

Are you on any medication ?

I am not on any meds. A couple months ago I tried Mirtazapine I took it 1 time and did not feel well so I stopped.  I seem to react to meds so I’m trying to get through without any right now.  The mornings are horrible!  I did just go to an integrative doctor who is testing through saliva, blood and urine for any possible  problems with adrenals, cortisol, vitamins  etc.    I go next week for those results.

My complaint is every morning and even after a nap, I wake up with bad anxiety and a pounding heartbeat.  Don't understand why it just happens when I wake up.  After I take my meds "Buspar, lamotrigine, and Lorazepam, it seems to taper off, most of the time.  Around early to late evening, it is much better.  At night, It's like I don't have t  any anxiety nor pounding heartbeat.  figure that one out, because the doctors can't figure it out. But yes, it's worse in the early morning and I can't go back to sleep.  I've had every test in the book, so they say and I'm perfectly healthy..Ya, right.  Ask your doctor to test your magnesium, potassium and cortisol levels. Make sure that any meds you're on don't cause depression as a side effect and also have your thyroid, Vitamin D can cause problems too, or it can be good be for you.  Make sure your dosage is right for you..  I ,hope you have better luck than me.

Sandra I also get the pounding heartbeat upon waking up at night and after a nap! I just assume it’s because I’m always in an anxious state so I’m even anxious while sleeping so when I wake up it’s a jolt and causes the pounding heart.

I'm pretty calm while sleeping.  I can wake up for a very short period of time an quickly fall back to sleep.  As soon as I wake in the morning, it hits me like a rock..When I take my meds, I'm O.K. for a  little while but after a few hours, I'm ready for my afternoon dosage.  I'm fine around dinner time and a couple of hours before bed, I feel no pounding heartbeat or anxiety.  Puzzles me, but I feel sometimes I'm losing the battle. The only thing that keeps me alive right now is my kids.  My daughter is terrified I'll leave her.  She's 19.
