    hi Zoe

I've been on 20mg now for 2 years, I started on 10mg,... what you're feeling is completely normal, can I ask if you take your medication at night or in the morning? I started taking mine in the morning, but then I had to deal with the anxiety side effects in the day time which is why I switched to night. The morning anxiety is quite nasty and does grab you by the throat at first , but eventually that effect translates to making you feel simulated and ready for the day . as for time, I'm a 25 year old male and 6ft, so obviously there is a bmi factor but for me it was about 8 weeks before the morning anxiety subsided. Trust me the results are worth it, drink loads of water to take away the cotton mouth and headache (if you are having those side effects too) you'll be fine. hope this helps

Why do doctors not warn you of all this 😦. Was tempted to give up. This is my second time taking citalopram and it worked much quicker the first time round

      Hi

why because they tell u what they got told when they learn about AD meds but never been though it or have been with someone that is going though it daily .

My hubby has been with me every day and knows more about this then the Dr we have seen , sad but true .

Also we learned a lot on the blogs on here and katecogs and Gillian

yes it's not my first time either , I came out then faster but be waiting on coming out on this time 3 month ☺ I pray

by the way I still go though crying to not all day long like when I started on this meds but here and there crying some days more and then some days not at all . I told my Dr last time to go to stay with a person that's going though this for some month so they can experience what goes on when they send u home with the meds. Well here for u get with me back for more ???

I have to wonder about google when it says that side effects go away after 2 weeks and you will feel better within 4-6 weeks 😕

      Hi again

everything you find on Google is based on statistics so don't pay attention, also bear in mind, Citalopram is as far as I know the strongest SSRI anti depressant available, which means it has some of the most brutal side effects.... but it also means that once it starts working properly it works wonders. Certainly changed my life as soon as my body had adapted to it . Side effects are an immune response to something your body doesn't recognize, so you can imagine when you start taking a medication as strong as Citalopram, your body's response is going to be extreme at first . Stick with it , you won't be sorry 😃
