morning no pains

I am a 72 year old male and was inform , through test ,that I have pheriferal neuropathy. I wonder if the diagnostic is correct. I have my doubt due to the fact that every morning I am without any pains in my feet. During the day the numness and pain increases in both feet. When I am standing up I feel very little or no pains but kick in as soom as I sit. Walking and relaxation help to ease the pain. Sometimes my feet are cold but not on a regular basis.  I do not take any medication nor smoke no significan amount of alcool.

Anybody start their day without pain???

Hi, the p. Neuropathy does not have to be a constant pain. Depending on triggers you can feel no pain until your activities can start it up again. Ask your Dr. What is the cause of p. Neuropathy and have him/her explain why it is happening. Mine is nerve damage and if I do not irritate the nerves the pain can be neutralized. Add activity that uses muscles etc. can trigger pain almost immediately.ie walking. So laying down calms the irritation from movements etc.you need to understand what you are dealing with in order to manage the condition. Best of luck, this can be a difficult journey.

Thank you for your input. So far the cause is unknown and GP recommends pain medication . Walking helps me!!!.  I have been taking extra B12 for several months but without noticable changes. I am starting to realize that we are all different. Thank you again for your time.

Hello Hermel, I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy in 2006. I have increased pain with standing but not sitting. I wake up in the morning feeling great but not for long. Once I have had some time standing the pain starts. My PN is prgressive and I have to take a lot of medication to control and manage my pain. I too get cold feet sensation but usually will not last.  Hope you feel better and hang in there. Everybody experiences different symtoms..

I thank you for taking your time to comment on my situation. You make me feel lucky. I have had this pain for over ten years but not at a level that I need pain medications. Strange but my pain is when I am setting, just the opposite of your situation. Why would that be??? Everybody experiences different symtoms..  thanks for sharring.

I, have had peripheral neuropathy for about ten years due to diabetes. It depends on how much damage you done before you were diagnosed when I first got pins and needles and numbness in my feet I thought I had just fell asleep with one ankle on top of the other. It was two years later I was diagnosed with neuropathy by that time the damage was done. But you are right walking does ease the pain, you never mentioned if you where diabetic or not. You can also get alcohol neuropathy normally when I sit i get shooting pains up my legs if you have ever cut your feet do they take a long time to heal any way I hope you haven't got peripheral neuropathy but unfortunately I think you might have
