Been on mirtazapine for 11 years and didn’t think it was working anymore. Tried chlomipramine, citlapram and venaflaxine and also duloxetine with no joy and bad side effects

    Hi Karen,

I’m sorry you are feeling poorly. I too experienced the morning sickness at the beginning. Good news is that it does get better! Hang in there. I can’t give you an exact day, however, for me it was around the 2-3 week mark. I struggled with depression and extreme anxiety. Today I am 8 weeks at 50 ml and my life is magic again. I can’t tell you how joyful it is to awaken feeling like me again and looking forward to my day. Hang in there. If it doesn’t get better in another week you might talk to your Doc to switch meds. Wishing you healthy calm days and better mornings soon! - x kat

Thanks Kat I also have bad depression and anxiety for 31 years now so I’m hoping the setraline works or I’ll go back to mirtazapine

Stick in there, this is normal in gets better week by week, just let your body adapt and don’t let it get you down, it’s bloody hard I’ve been there it took me in all honestly 3 months to be back to normal (whatever normal is) and I’m probably 2 years in and still occasionally have a blip.

My blips can last up to a week(as times goes on I have less and less and now they pass after a day or so. My last blip was probably 6 months ago.

      It’s not easy

I started and stayed in 100mg

Feel like coming off them as I’ve no motivation and exhausted along with the sickness

This is again normal and just  side effect it will get better, you have to give your body chance to balance out on the medication

      Have you had any cbt?

      My biggest help was meditation

Is it a huge life skill to learn

I listen to guided meditation on YouTube

Cbt didn’t help and would love to meditate but can’t calm my head enough

Try listening to guided meditations in a cold dark room laying on the bed

      It takes time and practice

If you give yourself 20minutes to 1hr a day soon enough your body will learn to relax and go into a deep relaxation

Remember it takes 21 days to form a habit

These are all side effects and will pass with time, the night time sweats were hard for me.

I starting taking my pills at night before bed and that helped me with the side effects but they will pass, just give yourself time and your body to adapt to the Medication
