Mornings

does anyone find that the mornings are more hellish than the later times. I am back on the venlafaxine having tried to come off . I take my meds in the morning and am starting to feel better in the days (still hard ) But can start to see some improvement. But the mornings are hell. Is that because of when I take the meds or because that is the last thing to improve. Any experiences?

well im just about to share your experience I'm sure as after reducing my Venlafaxine over the last 6 months and then changing onto trazadone 3 weeks ago, I am going to start back on the Venlafaxine tomorrow. It has been a horrendous time literally and had the psych nurse visiting me twice a week. I am under no illusions of how much worse it could get and my past experience reminds me that the mornings (diurnal
variation) are always the worst. What dosage are you starting back on? I will initially be taking 75mg and building up to 300mg again. I hope things improve for you, these are difficult times,
Kind regards, Susan.

Is it a case of timing?
I sometimes forgot when to take VF, so started to get the brain zaps late afternoon . I would take the med and as long as the med worked before say 9pm, then I got a better sleep and therefore better morning.
I go thru a lot of sleep deprivation due to constant running thru problems memories etc. Nights of staring at the walls, and fading away then fading in at 4am ..
ALSO when I ran out of VF during rest - either during Saturday or weeknight, I would get some weird dreams - not bad as such but one of the weirdest was that my task to defend someones home was to seal the doors. We found some magic way that we later discovered involved using the energy of a giant mushroom just outside the door.. only it was too far for the other side of the home, but we finally discovered that urine fixed that problem. Don't ask any more cause that was the best of the dream. I'm sure it wasn't cola, or chocolate, or alchohol based.
I don't know if thats even Depression or something else.
The way Australian politics are going these days, someone who has these type of dreams could be Prime Minister.

I have re-joined Patient's uk, after stopping. I think I use this and another mh forum I'm on too much. Anyway I'm back. I don't know whether taking the venlafaxine at a different time will change things. I take slow release capsules. 75mg in the morning and 37.50 evening. I wonder if swapping round would make any difference to the really bad mornings. Scared, so stressed every nerve in my body tense. I am a senior citizen and use that as an excuse to take 1,25mg oxazepam. I need a bit of quality of life and try not to worry about addictions.
I know that you aren't supposed to keep changing when you take an ad as it "upsets" your brain.
I live in Holland..(ex pat) How's Australia?

Mate, Aussie would make you more depressed than you are already.
Don't go back! I'm seriously thinking of going to the land of the K-pop cause a country under *real* siege instead of press-siege is much more positive than where Aussie stands at the moment.
Yes the brain gets upset, but the question I asked myself is why am I taking something that affects my brain so much.
I am now enjoying eating food. I am looking forward to having a Chicken/Cheese/Lettuce sandwich in a couple of hours.
Before I was just taking on fuel as it were..

Take it at night. Venlaflaxine has a sedative effect and you get a goid nights sleep and wake up with the meds in your system.
You have to fiddle with when to take it....i had mine at around 7pm with my evening meal n went to bed at 10. i was sleepy but not incapacitated!
If you have XL it then releases in the day and you aren't coming down in the day when most stresses in life happen!

I used 225mg XL (at night) for both anxiety and depression. My dose was slowly increased as 225mg is considered to be the theraputic dose for treating both anxiety and depression together.
I was upped to 300mg for a short period but found myself really sluggish on it and reduced back to 225mg and had diazepam (2mg) on my really bad days of anxiety. This suited me really quite well.
Goood luck and be patient! You need to slowly increase your dose to minimse the side effects you can suffer from taking it. In around 3 weeks things will start to seem a lot less of an uphill struggle.
