Hiya my fellow hippies, I'm due to see my GP next week and are going to talk to her about pain killers not working and maybe trying some kind of morphine, just wanted to ask if anyone has been on them and if so how ya got on with them....

I'm still waiting for my LTHR had the right side sorted last October, at moment pain is very bad when out walking only a short (100 yrds) walk, so anyone out there with some experience of this drug taking pre-op 😁 ....

Stay Safe & Stay Happy....

Pete..☺️

You don't mention if the pain is the left side which is still awaiting the operation, or the right side which has already been replaced.

I have tried all painkillers known to man including morphine, and not a thing worked ! I was beside myself with pain, and life was absolutely unbearable....I do have a friend with the same problem as myself and she was given Fentanyl patches which were extremely successful.unfortunately my Doctor would not prescribe them ! These patches gave her her life back again, until she had her Operation.

Thankfully I had my Operation on the 10th June which has been a great success, but I really feel for you. Life is anything but funny when in such pain.. Hope you are successful one way or the other very soon !! x

I had 2 hips done at 2 different times. I haven't tried morphine tablets but morphine was used during my 2nd surgery. It was noted on my chart that I don't react well to morphine so I don't know why they used it again. NEVER EVER would I voluntarily choose anything with morphine in it, pill or otherwise. A nightmarish reaction at best. HORRIBLE! An experience I will NEVER forget. I'm using caps to emphasize how badly I reacted to it. I was later given oxycodone hydrochloride. While it did help with the pain it made me feel cloudy. The extreme pain after surgery lasted for about 3 weeks, 1 week in the hospital and 2 weeks at home. It did hurt a lot but it lessened every day. The idea of being on an opioid was not an attractive one. But that's just me. Paracetamol became my drug of choice.
