Hi just been to hospital and they have now at last said i need surgery. At last as I have two Morton's Neuroma in the same foot. But having reading about it I'm not sure now if it's the right thing to do. But I have no choice stay in pain or have the opp. I hope yours gets better.

I had the surgery two years ago, and the pain has completely gone. My toe feels odd when I think about it, but I'd much rather have that than what felt like an electric shock every so often. Be patient; it takes a long time to get over the operation, and you'll get some odd shooting pains for a while. But they go, and I'm very glad I had the surgery. I wish I'd been told about calf-stretching exercises, though, and I might have avoided it altogether. I do them religiously now, and so far no neuroma in the other foot.

Thank you for letting me know it went well. I've just got to the end of this pain and as I have left it I now have two Morton's Neuroma in the same foot. So the way I'm now looking at it is surgery can't be any worse. My only problem is I love sport and having to stop. How long was it before you got back to normal daily activitys

i also have two MN In the same foot , I had a injection which made it so much worse after the injection another problem arose , some sort of arthritis in the toe next to the big toe so I was given another injection which was successful for a few months for that problem but I am still in pain with MN , I was given calf stretches excersie and insole then I was wrote off of the consultation care ! She was not keen on the surgery route . But the question is do I have to put up with this for the rest of my life , does it go way in some people ? I feel the surgery might be the best option but have read some bad reports on here . I play golf a lot so it will mean not playing for awhile. I will be interested to see how your surgery goes . My friend had it done privately and it was a success .

Hi I'm the same as you. I'm just waiting now to find out when my surgery will be but worried that it will make it worse. But I have a choice live with the pain or take a chance.

Hiya - not sure when I actually got back to playing sport, but I did an hour's badminton at the weekend and I jog and walk fairly regularly. I went to China six months after the op, and I don't remember any problems walking on the Great Wall... As i've said before, your foot won't ever feel quite the same again, but I have no pain at all, just the numbness. I too had the injection, and it did nothing for me. Just don't be too impatient after the op, asnd be aware that any operation on a nerve will produce some weird sensations for a while. But they don't last.

I had Morton's neuroma surgery, on my left foot, last June. Things went well for about six months, and I am now starting to have some pain again. It's not as bad as before the surgery, but I am concerned. I'm investigating ablation techniques, to see if that could possibly be a solution. I wanted to share, a technique that I discovered that helps with some of the pain. I went to my local pharmacy, Walgreens. And bought, one of those electrical tens units. I put a pad on the bottom of my foot, and the other one, above my ankle on the inside of my calf. I Then tuck the wires and the controlling unit in my sock. When my foot hurts I just reach down and turn the unit on.It Goes through a five minute cycle, and this seems to calm down any pain signals I have. I would say it works about as good as a Vicodin!
