Motability car.

Afternoon All,
I hope you are well.
Well, today i had a voicemail from Eden Vauxhall Garage..... On the paperwork i had received from them when i ordered the car it states 28th Sept as collection date for the car, i ordered on 4th June and he said they have to give 3 months but i will not go over that 3 months as that is why they give the end of the month.
He left a voicemail stating the delivery date is now middle of NOVEMBER!
That means i would have waited over 6 months, that car is not adapted and coming straight from the factory even though Eden Vauxhall Garage get the same cars delivered every 7 days.
Can i consider cancelling and looking elsewhere? I know other brands have shorter waiting periods based on stock.
Thank you x

Hi,
The time scale you were told when you ordered the car is purely just a guide. A Corsa is an extremely popular car, and they have deliveries weekly it's most likely orders that others have made. A brand new car will always come straight from the "factory" in which ever country it's made. I know the wait is frustrating but the car you chose was most likely not even made at that point, which is the reason for the extra delay. You will need to speak to the dealers to ask if it's possible to cancel and order something different.

If you have placed an order for your car through a Motability dealer and have since changed your mind you must speak to the dealer directly to discuss changing or cancelling the application. Please note that your dealer may charge a cancellation fee in these situations.

Hi,
Well, I wouldn't say they've messed her around. This is a brand new car we are talking about and on some occasions these are made to order, if the dealer doesn't have any stock and there's none ready to come of the production line an order can take months. All this takes time and a time scale is just that.....a time scale. It's not written in stone that that's when you'll have it. Things can go wrong because it's life. Very often when a person orders/buys a brand new car they have to wait longer than they were first told.

The problem with this is, if the driver is under 25 then your choices are limited because there's a lot of cars with motability that aren't suitable for those under this age. I have this very problem, not for myself of course but my daughter is under 25 and when choosing my car I have to take her into consideration because she's a named driver and I rely on her a lot. Annoying sometimes when choosing cars.

Thank you for your comment, to start of with i didn't have good vibes with the garage as when i booked a test drive and a viewing to order when i arrived they didn't know who i was and did not have an automatic car even though i had requested one and that is all i can drive and didn't have the right spec car i requested even though it was them who made my appointment.... The sales guy said a maximum of 3 months wait so he gave me end of Sept for collection but said they always come early and then left me a voicemail saying it is now middle of November.... Saddened massively by this.

No problem. Like I said they can't give you a maximum length of time, it's purely just a guide. They won't know the date of delivery until it's come off the production line and they've been contacted by them. I have no idea why you were told that's a maximum of 3 months. Things happen that cause delays especially making cars. If a wait of months is expected then it was probably never even made when you ordered it. I waited 2 weeks for mine because it was made and they were waiting for delivery.
Did you ring the dealers to ask them if you can cancel? They are the only ones that can tell you yes or no. I know the wait is very frustrating when you're excited about something like a new car but the saying is very true, the best things really do come to those that wait.

Same car maybe but was it the same spec? Yours is also automatic and they aren't as popular as a manual. I do know how you feel because the excitement of having a new car, I couldn't wait to have mine and was also counting the days. Hopefully they'll let you cancel and maybe go somewhere else. If you do this and decide on a totally different car make sure it's really the car you want, rather than just saying yes because you want it quicker.
