hi, currently struggling with startup side effects & really need to hear from people who gave been through this and gotten benefit from the drug. stories anyone???

hiya...yes I am on week 10 of venlaxafine. I was on sertraline for 6 years and doing ok but after an operation it seemed to stop working. I was started on 15mg mirtizapine while reducing the sertraline from 150mg to nothing . unfortunately it made me swell up with odema so had to come off it then had a ten day washout before starting on 75mg venlaxafine. Start up didn't kick in for about 10 days but alas the anxiety was horrible which I don't usually suffer from so I was given 5mg diazipan to take along with it, which helped..doc said it could also have been caused by the sertraline stoppage and washout????. 4 weeks later doc increased dose to 112.5 mg, anxiety again but no relief in depression. I was told this drug is slow working and increases needed to be every 4 weeks or so. Today I started on 150mg which is the lowest therapeutic dose and am waiting for the anxiety to start again which lasts a week or so. It also makes me more tired but other than that and anxiety, no other problems. Just need it to work now?..cheers and good luck!
