Cheers MTX on top of the side effects of taking said MTX for psoriatic arthritis and going through the menopause, the new upped dosage has given me mouth ulsers!!!!

So sorry to hear you are getting those horrid mouth ulcers. I hear your frustration and empathise with you, last week I asked my Rheumy what to do please, thinking he might reduce the MTX dose, but he said to take Folic Acid 5mg every day instead of just the day after, until they were gone, this was last week and no improvement yet but no worse either. All the best to you, and get better soon x

Hi there - be careful - mouth ulcers indicate a possible infection. Remember methotrexate dampens down the immune system significantly and something you may normally have 'shrugged off' may overtake your system. It is also a side effect that is classified as 'serious'
What is your new dosage and did you a blood test prior to the prescription?
