It is quite a common investigation in trying to find problems after THR. It gives more detail than other methods

You need to let them know that you have had a new hip, as it can heat the prosthesis up if they are not careful.

All modern hip replacement prostheses are made from non-ferrous metals so should be unaffected by the magnetic fields created during MRI scanning.

There are some suggestions that the presence of a hip implant can affect the resolution of scans in areas around the replacement but I think these can be resolved using image processing techniques

i had one, they say it is a metal artefect suppression mri, and it was done around 16 weeks, showing up interesting causes of my pain. good luck.

i had trochanteric bursitis and oseitis pubis on too of the pain in the hip joint. i have been able to solve the first two but the hip joint is still very painful and it feels like I have a cheese grater inside shearing away at my flesh and causing up to 7 cm swelling after 20 minutes walking.
