MRI after THR

Hi,

I had a THR in Nov 2019 and have been referred for an MRI of my knee on the same leg as the THR. I'm a bit concerned as I've heard horror stories about the hip implant heating up during the MRI, and other possible dangers.

My question is, has anyone else had an MRI after hip replacement and what was your experience?

    Let them know you have a replacement hip. I know several people who have had MRI scans for knees after THRs with no problem. Nowadays most hip replacements are non magnetic, although I know there can be problems with such things as pacemakers and metal plates in the body.
