MRI-really worried!

Hi Ladies,

I think i just need some reassurance.

I'm 35 years old and have recently plucked up the courage to go the doctors as I have a really swollen stomach- (I look 6 months pregnant!)which has slowly got bigger over the last couple of months. I'm not in any pain apart from my back but I seem to be losing weight everywhere else except my stomach. The Doctor suspected a large Cyst so sent me for blood tests which all came back normal except the CA-125 was rasied-around 90. I went for an Ultrasound and she also did an internal one at the same time but wouldn't tell me anything. I then went to see the Gynaecologist who did another scan and said it looks like a large cyst and has requested more blood tests and an urgent MRI. I'm now really panicking and thinking the worst and scared as I don't have kids yet.

    Hi Sarah,

Just wondering if you have had any luck chasing up your mri results?

No, they won't tell me anything! so have to wait another week..soo frustrating.

Do you get your results today? x

Yes, saw my consultant this morning. MRI showed cysts on both ovaries, they are kissing apparently, which makes it sound very nice! Found endometriosis, which is what they found last time I had a cyst 6 years ago. Nothing else showed up from mri which is such a relief as that had been my worst fear.

I was discussed at mdt meeting last Friday and they were all in agreement that they didn't think there was anything sinister, which was good to hear as having been fast tracked I thought it was a definate, he explained it was all about meeting targets. The big c still remains a fear though until it is all over.

So now waiting for a date for surgery, he will performing a bikini line cut, may have to take an ovary but will try and save the other. This is a bit different than 2 weeks ago when the first Dr I saw said they would probably take everything! Again this may be the case when he gets in there.

I know it is such a pain waiting, try and look on it as a positive that they haven't rang you urgently with your results. I'm sure everything will be fine and try and enjoy the Easter weekend and the lovely weather it may bring, maybe!

Oh Clare I'm so glad you've had your results, you must be so relieved now.

Thank you for letting me know, it's very reassuring and gives me hope.

They are having an MDT meeting next week where I will be discussed, so we'll see what happens. Trying so hard to stay positive x

    Hi ladies

I hope you don't mind me joining in your discussion. I too have recently been diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst and another smaller one. have had 2 MRI scans, one being urgent on bank holiday Monday. I have had bloods which were also raised and a ultrasound and a transvaginal scan plus an internal. I have been told I will need surgery and they discussed me at an mtd meeting 2 weeks ago then requested another urgent MRI.

My last MRI showed both cysts to have internal septations which means unlikely to be keyhole but they wanted another MRI scan to have a look around further, especially at my lymph nodes. To say I am freaking out is an understatement. I can't sleep (I love my bed but just can't fall asleep) I need to wee all the time, I feel fat and have gained so much weight.

Its my 40th birthday next week and I am so miserable. The waiting and not knowing is killing me. I just want a date for surgery.

I have been told that they won't necessarily know until in the surgery what I will lose but could wake having had a full hysterectomy. My family is luckily compete but this just feels such a big step and being thrown possibly into the menopause at 40 scares me.

I have amazing family and friends but i worry I am boring them and don't feel I can be honest in how I am feeling. I am scared.

Anyway I hope you are all OK. Its now 1am and I really must try and sleep.

    Take care
