MRI report, is confusing! MS or just Anxiety

Posted , 5 users are following.

I am having a very bad morning today. I suffer from anxiety. SO at the begining of the year I went to see a Nuero and I got a MRI with/out contrast. He called and stated that my MRI came out fine, ther was a lession that was there but was also found with normal patients all the time. But I just couldn't shake off the lession part.  So 2 days ago I went to the nuero that ordered my MRI, and I wanted him to go over my results again beacuse I wanted to understand it more, turns out my insurance no longer covers me to see him, I have to see someone else. However I was able to obtian the report. And it says as follows?

1. Tiny t2 flair hyperintense foci within the subcortical white matter of the left frontal lobe just above sylvian fissure not associated with mass effect, restricted diffusion, or abnormal cnhancemnet. This focus is nonspecfic and can be seen in noral patients.

2.Otherwise, normal apperance of the brian

3. mild nasal septal deviation

BUt I of course googled the terms and this lesions are seen in patients with MS. I took this report to my genral dr, and she suggest a second opionion. I am just freaking out here. A normal person would pro read this and think ok I am fine, but me no! My anxiety level has gone up to DEFCON!

I still feel the tingleing in my left arm, and muscle weakness in the same arm.

I feel lighthead all the time

trouble sleeping

my eyelide has been twitching for past month

These symptoms are comperable to Anxiety and MS.

SO My mind is just running away with me.

Has anyone gotten a misdiagnoses before where they said it was fine they turns out it is MS?

Help Please

Have you had your B12 and D vitamin levels checked? They should be in the upper half of the normal range. If low normal you may be deficient, this can cause MS-like symptoms.

I did suffer from vitamin D def,  a few months ago, but now it at normal level.

I do suffer from anxiety, but I just feel something is off. It could my mind playinf tricks on me or I do have something.

Now its a waiting game. My gernal Dr. put in a referral to see another nuero.

      Thank u for responding.

You know I feel like any normal person would've read this report n said ok I am good. Let's move on.

But that the tiny lesion makes me nervous especially because my arm still feels weak n tingling. I can be laying down m I feel my legs fall asleep fast. I do exercise so I don't think it's bad circulation.

And it's more fusterating because the symptoms between ms n anxiety are similar in a lot of ways.

You have anxiety si anything we say on here won't alleviate it. I have severe anxiety too. Stay off sweeteners fir a start. I get a terrible arm problem like you describe but it's not my MS it's a trapped nerve and also carpal tunnel. Hyperventilating will make you dizzy too. You can gave a few lesions and have no signs of MS. Get your second opinion, it may be they keep an eye on you and that will help your anxiety if you are seen again in say 6/12 months. Try relaxation too as holding yourself stiff will affect neck.muscles. ??

      So u do have MS?

How has ur journey been so far? Was your diagnosed easy to diagnose?

I know no 2 ppl with ms has the same symptoms.

I know anxiety can play pretty bad tricks in the body and that's why ms symptoms and anxiety symptoms are similar. I do have really tense shoulders and neck and I see a chiropractor too. But I can shake the tingling arm, I don't think I have ever felt it go numb. But it does feel heavy. And it's been a month where my upper eyelid twitches . And my eye feels weird. It does not hurt with movement but it feels funny.

Right now the waiting game of waiting for insurance to approve my referral to see w other nuero is killing me.

I exercise 30-40 each day n try to eat healthy , I do some yoga at home, but I feel like nothing is shaking my feelings or symptoms.

    Omg!

You completely describe me. I too got my MRI result with tiny lesions on both frontal lobs. My dr was not that concerned but I insist to see the specialist. I too suffer from anxiety and this MRI result got me double thinking and anxious. I too googled my lesions and the out come was terrible. It scared me even more.

I don't know what to do. I have appointment with neurologist but I'm afraied of its outcome and the diagnose.

I am still waiting for my insurance to approve my request to see another nuero for a second opinion. Believe me I am so freaked out.

      Hi magali

Could you we another dr. The neurologist called me yesterday and told me that he saw those tiny little white spots on both of my frontal lobs that normal prople could have them too. But he said lets reapet the MRI this time with the contrast.

I was shocked and scared. I honestly need to take anti anxiety pill to control my worrying. But I don't know if it's safe to take them if you have MS.

So here I am confused and scared.

My first mri was with and without contrast.

I believe a lot of ms patients take anxiety meds.

Aside from the mri, do u have any symptoms?

Or is it just ur lesions on the brain that worry?

My neuro woukdnt approve of me doing yoga, I saud I saw 90 year old on tv, he said did she have ms. You have MS. You have to pace yourself, excercising may be too much, stretching muscles may not be good. Don't freak out please MS isn't the end of the world but it is something you have to be kind to yourself with ms. My twitches, my mouth twitches in fact I get twitches all over, but they're just annoying not painful. A vegetarian diet gas helped although it's not the reason I'm a veggie. A heavy limb is a sign but don't fret, I had aeh that dragged, itferls thick and heavy now but it's not draggingijevit did. Don't carry heavy things, don't overdo things. Uf you have a busy day then have a quiet restful after and/or before. You'll learn to live well with it. ????

Hi, so far I don't have ms. No one has told me I have it. My last nuero said my mri was normal, but bcuz I suffer from anxiety the tiny lesion freaked me out and now I am waiting for my insurance to approve my second opinion to see another nuero.

Unfortunately a lot of the anxiety and ms symptoms are similar.

So what did the dr say about third Tibet lesions? Will they dissolve by itself? My dr said the same thing to me. He said I don't think that it's a big deal. But I was panicking already and asked him to refer me to specialist.

Katie this is bascially what my MRI said:

tiny t2 flair hyperintense foci within the subcortical white matter of the left frontal lobe just above sylvian fissure. Not associated with mass effect, restricted diffusion, or abnormal enhancemnet. This focus is nonspecfic and can be seen in nomral patients.

However when I google lessions and whit matter it comes up with MS. And my left arm tingling has not stop at all in all theses months. Which is why I am so worried. Its my shoulder and arm. And I notice that without noticing my shoulders seem to go up to my ears and I have to remind them to come down.

He did not really explain why that tiny lession was there or how it got there. No explaination really. So I took my results to my GP, and she said just to be safe and get a second opinion. My main concern for worry is my arm. I feel it on my upper left side down my arm to my pinky and the finger next to it. Its just a tingling sensation, almost like a jidder when u have too much caffine.

My symptoms are pretty much these.

Tingling in left arm( from like back of shoulder to my pinky) no numbness

      Light headed/dizzy

      Hard to me staying asleep

      Anxiety

      Right eyelid twitches

I find myself with my shoulders up to my ears like clenching them upward a lot of times my left shoulder and I have to remind myself to bring them or it down.

Which are pretty the same symptoms I had n told the first nuero.

I got approved to see second nuero but first apt is not until August 18th.

      Hi magali

Thank for your respond. Here is what happened at the neurologist office.

I still didn't get any answer.

the nerologyst was an old guy in his mid 70s. The moment he stepped in the office he told me that he has 40 years of experience in the field. I think he said that to assure me that he has enough of the experience and he knows what he is doing. However, he asked me series of questions like if I ever blacked out completely, if I went blind in one or both of my eyes for a day or a week, if I had a one side numbing or tingling, if I had a skin burning and pain and if I had many vertigo. Then he began checking on my neurological functions. He asked me to walk away from him in then come back, then he checked on my arms and feet strength, then he checked my eyes and asked me to follow his finger the look at right and left, then he asked me to close my eyes and touch his finger. After then he used a vibrating metal tool and put it on my both hands and then feet. He asked me if I could feel it. After all that he told me that he doesn't see any neurological problem with me. Then I asked him about my MRI result he said that unless he does not see the images himself and does not talk to the radiologist he can not answer my question. But he told me that as we age we will see some changes in our brain that can be normal. Beacuse he will not diagnose anyone only by the MRI it has to be body and the images coloration. Then he told me that he will call me himself after checking the images. Do I'm still waiting. But my mind is not at ease. Beacuse I'm thinking of it is normal to have brain changes in young ages then everyone should have the same MRI result. I really don't know if I have to go and get the second opinion.

Tell me about your opinion what should I do. Thank you ??
