MRI Scan shows no convining evidence for active metastatic bone disease

Posted , 2 users are following.

September 2013 I was diagnosed with Advanced Metastatic Prostate Cancer...found by DRE,a T4 large lesion invading the outer rectum.A 328 urg/l Psa.Started on Lucrin and Bicalutimide afer 12 months I changed to Zoladex 3 monthly injections because of side effects namely loss of muscle and pain walking...Zoladex changed this but after my PSA started to rise 8 months ago I dropped to monthly injections. Then my Testosterone was high and Psa doubled to 9 urg/l I was then down to 3 weekly injections of Zoladex...Christmas 2015 I had an MRI SCAN and it showed No Convincing Evidence for Metastatic Bone Disease at this time in the neck or elsewhere within the thoracic, lumbar or pelvic regions.

Question...Is this a common result as my skeleton had multipal lesions/tumours in all areas.

The Consultant Radiologist noted in handwriting to the Urologist ''No covincing Mets- Good News''.

This has happened despite rising PSA an Testosterone.

Also I have't had Radiation Treatment or Chemo as my Cancer was too far advanced..

Anyone with similar experience..

Thanks

Ken

Ken, I am sorry that you are going through this. I have to ask what does high testosterone indicate? I have never heard of this being a symptom of cancer. I would say high PSA sure but being what you said it was originaly I think 9 is an improvement. Unfortunately cancer is so unpredictable that doctors think they know everything but they seldom due. I would say that your scans look good selebrate, you have a reason to! It is wonderful news. Keep doing whhat you can, you know take care of yourself by getting the proper nutrients. It is so important to have a strong immune system in order to fight cancer. Chemo does the reverse of this and it defeats the purpose. I once read in a medical study that when our immune system is functioning properly it will ward off an average of 7 major cancer incidents in our lifetimes. It protects us vigorously throughout our lives and it is when it is compromised that we develope cancer. So plenty of vitamin D and lots of fresh green vegies. Sorry not trying to preach just trying to help. I hope you feel better soon and be happy about the bone scan, it's a huge deal.

Thanks Craig....On the testosterone,Hormone therapy is used to block Testosterone from stopping its production and blocking the receptor...The Zoladex injections could not get myTestosterone down to 0, only 2.5nmol/L...it has doubled to 5.2 nmol/L that rise has started my body hair to grow amongst other male attributes..I hope you have an understanding now on how Hormone Treatment works otherwise do more research on Google.

      ThanksĀ

There is some conflicting data on this. I have read that one is at high risk for cancer if your Testosterone is low and vitamin D. I have gone through great lengths to get my D level back up and testosterone to a normal level. In my case I am trying to prevent cancer. I have read that after you have a clean bill of health, in otherwords no sign of cancer that it is a good idea to get testosterone levels back to normal. But you have to be clear of it and not sure how they can know this. Again so much is unknown. Research has started making some really good progress recently but this kind of cancer has been a problem for a long time. Not sure why it tokk so long. We can hope that in the near future there will be new methods for detection and treatment that are much improved. Again I wish you a speedy recovery.

Yes Craig,I appreciate your view and I have wondered as to my "remission" which has been within the time span of rising PSA and Testosterone...I have been treating myself with daily drinking of a Litre of Ozonated water since my time just prior to my start of treatment in September 2013...All the best.Ta

That is interesting. I was told that if one has prostate cancer Testosterone will feed it making it spread, but I have also read the opposite. It would seem in your case it is a good thing to have a bit of T. I will not let my doctor take me off it. If I have to go to another doctor I will.
